I am extremely dissatisfied with Costco right now. It's up to us, as consumers to put these big store's in their place. They serve us, not the other way around. I am reading the negative reviews which seem to all relate in the attitudes/communication area. Which is in high need of an overhaul. They don't care because despite the negative reviews. Enough consumer's spend money to keep them in business. After this experience, I am going back to "Mom & Pop" stores, who appreciate local business. My husband has a membership, I am currently not on the membership (Gold) because he must keep his mother's address on his license due to an illness, Alzheimer's (caretaker etc. At this time, which honestly? We shouldn't have to explain, especially if you buy an executive membership). We can not be on the same membership, but shop here regularly. It isn't cost effective for us to purchase 2 memberships for 1 household. The way they treat the membership holders is pretty absurd, but that's my opinion. -Their store, their rules, I do get that. However, 2 weeks ago our daughter called Costco and asked if we, our Family of 4 (my husband, myself, my daughter- 22 yrs. old , & son 20 yrs. old). Could make appointments with the Optometrist department. Would we be able to see the eye doctor, and all get exams and prescriptions under his membership. They said absolutely, so we made appointments for yesterday, March 3, 2021. We all came in together, we all had our exams, we each paid separately. To make it easier for the receptionist. This in no means is against them. The doctor was Wonderful! And so we're the young ladies in the little office. In total we spent almost $1000.00 (one thousand dollars) just in exams for all four (4) of us. Not including glasses... Then came the glasses counter. 2 lovely ladies were glad to help and little by little everyone picked out frames, even sunglasses. In the middle of our shopping, the workers suddenly changed shifts? Which in itself is confusing when in the middle of an order/sale. 2 other customer service employees took over, and very seriously took control. Then came me... I was being ignored, and no one was taking the glasses for my prescription. They did ask for my card, but I stated he has it (my husband). I put my prescriptions down on the counter, and when they didn't get the card, they simply walked away. When I finally became a bit disgruntled, I was told I couldn't order anything! That they already told me?? What? Wait... What? They only saw his name on the Costco card. "You're not on the membership, so you either must have your own membership? Or... He must put you on his, but we can't help you. I was baffled, to say the least. Especially since I just spent almost $200.00 on my eye exam alone, and already was wearing the contacts which the Optometrist fit me with for 30 days. I was ordering the glasses I just picked out, and a clerk helped me with, and was also ready to try on and purchase colored eye contacts as well. Everyone else in my family had purchased their glasses. We had just spent well over $1400.00 dollars now. I was just standing there baffled & embarrassed. My husband was upset and immediately wanted to purchase me a membership. I said no, I just wanted to leave and go home. I got very upset, besides the fact my eye exam revealed other pressing medical issues. My daughter asked why they were allowed, but not their Mother? The gentleman stated they were minors... Minor's? "I'm 22 and my brother is 20, we don't understand". "You're under 26, year's of age, we cover under his membership, because you're under 26 year's of age" Then why didn't they say this when we made the appointment? We specifically asked, why did I just spend $200 on a exam and now with prescriptions in hand, I can't order glasses? He shrugged his shoulders. We proceeded to leave. I am done. This is no way to treat the people. Yes, I have the prescriptions, but now must search where I can fill it, most places won't just fill a script without seeing their doctor. Only online. At least my Family...
Read moreMy family and I have been happy customers for 4 years at this Costco, but today’s experience was surprisingly terrible. 1. Cashier and bagger were polite and friendly however they were passionately engaged in talking about irrelevant topics and deviated the cashiers attention and scanned an item twice. That’s minor, it’s an understandable mistake. Customer service staff was efficient and took the item off for us. 2. When we finally got to the door at around 4pm, we gave our receipt to an older staff member and he counted the items and told us that our water is not on the receipt so we must go pay for it if we want it. I completely understand he is just trying to do his job. But I clearly saw the cashier scanning the water so I asked if he could count the items again and re-examine the receipt. His attitude was beginning to be impatient, and he counted 29 items when we counted 31(the receipt showed 31 total items). I was very puzzled so I expressed that it is strange that the receipt recorded more items than what’s counted. He began to be a little bit short and impatient with me and told me that if the water is scanned it would show KS/40 on the receipt and it is clearly not on the receipt so if we want it we must pay for it (our receipt showed KSWTR40 instead). After about 5 minutes of his impatient demeanor, we started to walk towards a cashier to rescan the water. He then looked at the receipt of another customer behind us who also bought water and told us never mind. I went up to him to make sure we are good to go, he said plainly “ yes sorry” and then looked away. His attitude during the whole process was a bit intimidating and his impatience made us feel that he did not trust our character and we were wasting his time. Besides his attitude, the lack of updated knowledge about how an item should be described on the receipt impedes customers’ exiting process. Furthermore this old staff sir counted inaccurately yet he stood by his answer, ego was his first response rather than counting meticulously to make sure the items match the total item quantity on the receipt. I understand that he is older and mathematical abilities may deteriorate with age, and maybe he is going through some emotion turmoil or personal issues, but we hope that he can treat every customer with the same respectful treatment and use correct criteria and efficient manner and not his rigid method of checking receipts. Our confusion was not illogical, he should not have had a short temper and attitude when we were trying to figure out what’s wrong.I won’t drag politics into this but we were very offended by his demeanor and hope that he can act more kindly without prejudice and pay more attention to his work so customers’ time won’t be wasted and that they don’t...
Read more04/29/23: The remodel appears to be complete and it gave a new approach aisle to the cash registers. So there are three ways to get there instead of two. Nice. As typical I got there on a Saturday afternoon around 3:00 or 4:00 and when I went to leave it was raining. So I sat and waited for about 15 minutes for the storm to move through and then left.
Costco is remodeling this location, so many parking spaces are unavailable at this time. But the store was not crowded and I was able to get what I needed easily.
4/23/22: The parking spaces are available again. And the interior has more space. But they're still in a state of blocks of moving departments to different areas. So it's confusing where to find the things you used to know where they were. But for it being a Saturday afternoon, there seem to be a lot of people there, but it didn't feel as crowded as it has in the past.
6/11/22: there is still construction going on at this location.. that means the parking lot is still a slight challenge, but the big news is the entrance has moved from its original location. It is now further along the storefront to the west.
If you go, plan accordingly,. The original restrooms are not currently available. There are porta potties outside the doors in the snack bar dining area.
Things are have been moved around but I don't think some are in their final locations even yet. And it looks like there are no rotisserie chickens until August.
09/24/22: The rotisserie chicken is back.
07/08/24: as always there are good finds at Costco. As I'm on a major weight loss journey this is where I purchase my clothing as I get smaller.
And they have moved things around again at least in the protein department. The back case in front of the butcher area is now the seafood display. The beef has moved to one of the free-standing island cases. It is close to the left main aisle as you head...
