While I was searching for something else I stumbled across this little hidden gem off the beaten path in Palm Beach Gardens. So yesterday I decided to take a friend there at dinner time and check it out. Rama V is a Thai and Sushi self proclaimed take out restaurant with a few tables. The decor is simple and pleasant with soft muted natural colors that put one at ease and a feature wall honoring Siam’s King RAMA the 5th (hence the roman numeral V). RAMA V was largely responsible for the Modernization of culture that came about in Thailand in the late 19th century. He was characterized in the Novel Anna and the King which later became the Broadway show and film THE KING AND I.
Ok, that’s enough with history let’s talk about food. When we were finished the owner came over and asked if everything was good. I jokingly responded no, talking her by surprise and quickly followed up with is was not good, it was FANTASTIC!
There is no other way to describe the tastes, the presentation and the appearance of what we had. Choosing was not easy as the menu has no less than 80 items indicating to me that everything needed to be prepared to order. After some unusual but totally delicious soups my friend had the RAMA V sushi roll, which is apparently the house special and a creation of the chef . I had my long time favorite Pad Thai which allowed me to make a direct comparison with other SE Asian restaurants. The Sushi was a delight to the eyes and pallet having a spicy sauce applied that made my friends eyes water, which is just the way she likes it. My Pad Thai was presented in an environmentally friendly paper bowl that coordinated well with the simple beauty of this restaurant. The Pad Thai sauce was sweet and savory but did not overpower the taste of the veggies and pork like I find many Thai restaurants do.
Overall I must give this tiny gem V (yes that’s 5) thumbs up. It’s a must try, and I can assure you if you do, you will be...

Chicken Katsu – 3/5 Crispy fried chicken breast served with mixed vegetables, jasmine rice, and katsu sauce. I didn’t enjoy the sauce (thankfully it was served on the side rather than poured on top). The chicken was a thin filet with a heavy coating, not very flavorful. I personally wouldn’t order it again.
Steak Teriyaki – 4/5 Sliced grilled N.Y. steak with mixed vegetables, teriyaki sauce, and rice. Served appropriately medium rare, looked appetizing, and was well-prepared.
Pad Thai – 3/5 Stir-fried rice noodles with egg, ground peanuts, scallions, and bean sprouts. We ordered it mild for a baby, so it lacked spice. Everything was fresh, but the flavor was simple.
Fries – 5/5 Thick, potato wedge–style fries with a solid coating, served piping hot. Excellent texture and flavor.
Chicken Tom Yum – 5/5 Fresh and flavorful with a strong mushroom profile. Good quantity of broth and vegetables—very satisfying.
Overall Experience • Clean, aesthetically pleasing space with seating for about 8–9 tables. • Every corner had attention to detail, with charming cat-themed décor. • Dishes were served in disposable bowls and plates. • Service was quick—our mains came promptly, and I noticed 5–6 takeaway orders while dining, suggesting it’s a popular to-go spot. • Main courses were accompanied by rice and steamed vegetables, which were fresh and perfectly cooked (not soggy). • Not overly spicy—perhaps a reflection of their style, catering to those who prefer milder, fresher flavors. • Owned and operated by a woman entrepreneur; our server (possibly the owner) was friendly and courteous.
Final Thoughts While I’m not a big Thai food lover and prefer bolder spice, I appreciate the freshness, quick service, and welcoming atmosphere here. It’s worth trying, especially if you like lighter, less spicy...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience at Ramav Thai and Sushi. The presentation was absolutely beautiful from the fresh fruit carved with care to the glossy pastries and vibrant main dishes, everything looked as good as it tasted.
I started with a delightful appetizer plate featuring crackers, baked brie, fruit (the carved green apple and rose-shaped strawberries were a lovely touch), and a delicious pastry topped with a sweet red glaze — it was both elegant and satisfying.
The main dish was just as impressive. The chicken fried rice was flavorful and full of tender chicken, perfectly cooked vegetables, and aromatic spices. It came with juicy grapes, a fresh cucumber slice, and even a crispy spring roll with dipping sauce. The sticky rice and small citrus fruit were a refreshing balance to the rich meal.
The staff was friendly and attentive, and the attention to detail really made the meal special. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for delicious, authentic Thai food with a thoughtful...
