I like this store in general, and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the hot bar with its variety of chicken wings and riblets! However, I've been charged waaaay more for the same amount of items on my last few visits. Now, I understand that supply chain issues have made it necessary to raise prices, but a 50% increase all in one shot seems beyond the realm of reason. Especially when you consider the fact that the chicken wing shortage was first announced in 2020 and the price here hardly seemed to budge until a month or so ago.
So, the sticker shock was bad enough. However my most recent visit, and my last I might add, was marked by what can only be characterized as a verbal assault by an extremely abrasive woman who charged out from behind the deli counter, grabbed an upright stand with yet another increase announcement on it, and dragged it over to the hot bar saying among other things: "I guess I have to bring this over here so you can't miss it!" As if it was my problem that I'd walked directly to the self-serve hot bar rather than circling past the deli first. My sense is she felt that she'd already fielded way to many complaints about the increase and decided to launch a preemptive strike out of frustration. I stood at the deli counter for a while before he noticed me and asked, āYes?ā I told him what I wanted and he proceeds to work, packaging my item. After that, he walks away and I still had more items to purchase from the deli. That was the first time I came to this store. Second time was pretty much the same thing. It was like I was bothering him and he had better things to do. I cringed a bit when I saw it was the same guy working. Then I get to the register and the cashier didnt acknowledge me, and just rang up my items and handed me my receipt without wishing me a good day. She looked like she didnāt want to be there. Two times Iāve been here and two times Iāve felt like employees arenāt giving good customer service. I like Winn Dixie. I like the prices and the the quality of food. I heard they have good prices of meat and other things. I went to the meat section and I was shocked and disgusted at what I saw, some of the meat was spoiled like the ground beef, steaks and pork was green. The chicken was fresh though. They had good prices on ice cream and some great BOGO deals. I went to check out after I got all my stuff and there were only two registers open. It was not too busy so I went to the open register where there was a young man, that had an attitude when I started to put my food on the checkout table. He said he gots off in 2 minutes and that this better be quick! So I quickly put everything on the belt and he scanned it then when it came to paying I had issues with my card not reading in the machine he told me what to press and was getting annoyed when I pressed the wrong thing.
