On April 4th, 2024, my wife and I went into the Family Fare store on 1230 N Washington St in Papillion, NE. We decided to get some fried chicken, and so we approached the deli counter. The first thing I noticed was that there were four or five people waiting, and the chicken bins were nearly empty. A guy named Levar was the only one working in the deli. I saw him shaking his head and rolling his eyes as he headed into the freezer. When he came out, he was carrying a bunch of supplies needed to make more chicken. As he exited the freezer, he swung the boxes he was carrying to slam the freezer door shut behind him. Well, he swung it in an obviously aggressive and angry way. The freezer door slammed very hard, and he was muttering to himself and shaking his head. He put the boxes of supplies down and approached a woman at the counter. She hesitantly asked if she should come back later, and then he told her with exasperation that she should come back later because he doesn't have anything right now. The lady quickly left. The other people who were hovering around and waiting also left soon after. So, I approached the counter to ask how much longer until any fried chicken might be ready. He rolled his eyes and sighed and then told us it would be a while because there were orders ahead of us. So, we left. We have dealt with this guy before in the past, and it has always been clear that he has anger issues and possibly some kind of mental problem. I reported this incident to a manager named Troy. Troy was standing within clear eyesight of the Deli and seemed to have been watching what had transpired. I approached and explained the situation. I described how Levar had slammed the freezer door aggressively and sighed and rolled his eyes a lot. I will never forget this man's ridiculous response... He told me that this was my perception and not necessarily what had happened. He also told me that he has been working with Levar for years and has not noticed this type of problem before. I promptly told him that witnessing someone being rude, rolling their eyes, and sighing is not just my perception but is also reality. Troy then walked away and headed over to the Deli. He excused himself but did not seem interested in what I was saying. Later, I was talking to the customer service lady to get the Family Fare customer service number, and Troy saw me there. He walked up and asked if I needed help, and I told him I was going to report all of what happened to customer service. I could see and feel that he was not happy about this, but he got me the number. I tried contacting them multiple times, but so far, they have not reached back out to me to resolve this. It is very sad that the standards of customer service and customer care have fallen so far. To be fair, there are many things I like about the store. They have great produce and a terrific bakery department. Their donuts and rolls are always fresh and made very well. So, I will continue to go back, but if I do go back to the deli, it will only be on Tuesdays because that is Levar's day off. I will also try to spend as little as possible in this store because of this and because many of their prices are too high.
Update: Yesterday,Tuesday, Troy called me and apologized and gave me a $25 gift card. I used the gift card to order chicken at the Deli, and Levar was there, even though I was told that Tuesdays were his day off, and he seemed much better with his customer service skills and demeanor. So, I am happy about this turn of events. Hope...
Read moreThis store used to be one of my wife and Iâs favorite places to shop for groceries however after todays experience we will no longer be returning. My wife who is a very masculine presenting woman went in this evening to get groceries for the week after work. She noticed the hamburger was on sale if you were a yes member according to the sign so she grabbed some. Later on when she was checking out she rang up the hamburger and noticed it didnât ring up the correct price so she placed it to the side of the convoyer, but still in the conveyor just to the side so that it wouldnât go down and get bagged so that after she finished she could get some help fixing it before she paid. She finished ringing up her groceries and was scrolling through the transactions to verify how the hamburger rang up before asking for help when she noticed the worker down at the end who bagged her groceries eyeing her. She continued scrolling through the list of items to find the meat when the worker approached her and asked if she needed help. She told them that she did that the hamburger didnât ring up right and without the worker even taking a look at the screen she instead said âactually I donât think you rang that up at allâ my wife then repeated that she did and it isnât ringing up the right price when the worker again without even looking at the screen repeated âno you didnât ring it up at allâ. My wife then repeated she did and pointed to the screen where it showed she did and the worker just said âoh okayâ and walked away. My wife stood there in disbelief and absolutely uncomfortable that she just got accused of stealing hamburger when she was asking for help. She then called me and told me she was going to tell them nevermind that she didnât want the groceries and they could cancel them and she would put them back because of how uncomfortable she was made to feel but she just needed me on the phone with her in case. She then stood there waiting for help for nearly 5 minutes before she was then approached by an older female worker who she told her what happened and how uncomfortable it made her feel. This lady only responded with âoh okay thenâ and walked away. My wife never once got even a simple apology for the mistreatment. She and I have no doubt that the treatment was because of how she looked and how you could easily tell she was a part of the LGBTQ community. What happened tonight was absolutely disgusting and we will never returned. To be continuously accused without the worker even checking the screen and then not even get an apology from not only one but two workers when you proved them wrong and told them how uncomfortable and not okay it was is down right distasteful. My wife is never one to complain or stand up vocally for something unless it truly affected her. To see the hurt on my wifeâs face and her it in her voice tonight when she is normally so kind hearted and High spirited was absolutely...
Read moreI would rarely come here before, but after my most recent experience-I won't be coming here again, if I can help it.
Recently went grocery shopping with my significant other and while walking around together, two associates were glaring at him the entire time; either racially profiling him or whatever issue- I found it incredibly rude. That counts as strike one and strike two was when one of the associates approached him and treated him as if he were stupid and had him go to a checkout instead of self-checkout for a random reason. That same reason happened to another couple in the self-checkout, but they weren't told to go to a different checkout lane.
Strike three was when we were grabbing specific products, for context, I'm highly allergic to soy, we found a soy-free soy sauce. We came in to possibly exchange it the next day because the expiration date was all the way back in September of 2022! My partner and I nearly cooked with it that night! While we were looking for a different bottle-all of that same product was expired and every other product on that shelving unit was expired too!
Never again. If you're shopping here, please be wary since there could be products that expired for a long time and especially because their employees racially profile...
