edit Taco salad has a lot of sour cream. In this case our bowl ended up as taco soup since the hot chicken had a lot of extra liquid. It tasted fine but it might be better to get the sour cream on the side. We got the guacamole on the side which is why it's missing from the picture.
We have been back a few times since my first visit. This place has been pretty solid with my friends who I've introduced all enjoying it. Do try the jaimaca drink for something different. It's very palatable for someone who doesn't want something weird but just different from the norm. The glass it came in was huge! We recently did the El grande dinner off their house menu. I felt like it easily fed 2 people (I am not the biggest eater though). It's a great deal at $13.99! We also got the steak burrito dinner. Though good, I have found other things I prefer to order here. My friend really enjoyed it though. I included pictures, but realized after taking them, though the plates look the same, they are different in size. The steak burrito plate is larger. This was our first time going. We had the Omaha dining passport, so the pricing for us ends up being exceptionally good. We had the Burrito California dinner and the Fried Chimichangas (off their house menu). As soon as we sat down we were given tortillas and salsa. The tortillas were warm and not too greasy (Some places we went to recently were much greasier) Both meals were very good. There was nothing we could fault. I wasn't very hungry but still felt my food was tasty. We had some very bad cheese sauce at another place so were hesitant when we ate this, but was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. They presented us with a tiny dessert of fried tortilla covered in sugar with chocolate syrup. Its in the pictures we took. Nice touch. I think that's lik On our initial trip we gave it a 5 because what we had, the atmosphere, coupled with price and service was deserving of that. We will most likely be back and hope that our continued visits will still be at...
Read moreWell, not ever going here again. What the heck happened??? This was one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants but the recent menu changes have ended what was a regular stop for me and my wife. It used to always be so good. Tonight, not so much. New menu, and prices went up big time! They stopped serving the 32 Ounce beers which were great. No worries…we switched to 16 ouncers which ended up costing much more. They got rid of my absolute favorite burrito…the special burrito off the a la carte menu. I tried to reconstruct it but it ended up being 3 times the price. Had to add on Guacamole for $2 making a damn burrito over $18!!! When I got the bill, the waiter had charged us for a FULL side of guacamole which was $11.25!!! Had to have that corrected. My wife ordered Veggie fajitas and her very first bite had a chunk of chicken in it. Luckily she is no longer a vegetarian. The food was cold…usually piping hot to the point where they have to warn you to not grab the plate when they put it down. No need...
Read moreFirst time going to El Vallarata, was one of the worst experiences weve had. The food was out at our table in less then 5 minutes and it showed. The flour tortillas were like rubber, like they were straight out of a microwave, the shredded steak burrito didn't seam to be steak. The margaritas were all mix and no tequila. Extremely disappointed in our experience! The menu is large and expansive, and it didn't explain all of the items that were in the dish. No one in my family finished there meals half way. If anyone is considering trying the food I would strongly suggest trying another option. This is the first time I have actually wrote a review on anything let alone a restaurant, we were that disappointed in the food! However our service was very good! I would be very surprised if this restaurant is still in business in a year. Sorry for the bad review, but it was honestly one of the worst experiences we have had when it comes to the quality...
