Terrible experience. I have never had an issue at a phone store when doing a Next Up upgrade, but this time it felt like we were on trial and the phone was being examined by a group of junior wannabe forensic analysts. It was such a strange and unprofessional experience.
I’d like to know in what world this phone was not eligible to be turned in for the Next Up early upgrade. IF there was an issue with the back, it had already been replaced through AT&T’s insurance provider, Asurion. According to the Next Up details, they still would have had to accept the phone since we went through all the proper channels.
And to the junior wannabe forensic analyst who said, “You can try Jonesboro, but they shouldn’t take it”—well, they did, with no questions asked. They didn’t drag the phone around for a judgment day process.
I was never asked my name, phone number, or for the account to be pulled up. How do you know I didn’t have another line that was eligible for a standard upgrade that we would have gladly taken?
The entire interaction felt unprofessional. A group of workers stood huddled around the counter while the wannabe analyst spoke loudly—presumably to a manager—before suddenly lowering her voice when I looked over.
As someone who is also in a leadership position, I see this as a missed opportunity. A manager should have stepped in, engaged directly, and modeled teamwork by asking the right questions (such as pulling up the account). Instead, it became a missed training opportunity and ultimately a missed sale.
Overall, it was a poor experience with the Paragould store. I’ve attached photos of the phone we were turning in, along with AT&T’s official Next Up details and examples of what they themselves consider “excessive wear.” One star only because I...
Read moreFirst off let me state that I tried to call and talk to a manager for 2 days before writing this review (it is an hour drive one way) and even though it appeared that a manager was there the employee would not let me talk to them.
I went to the Paragould at&t store on Sunday Aug 4 about 2:30 pm for tax free weekend. Upgraded 2 lines to the iphone 14 for $10.99 each line. Got the phones and was told that there would be $10 and some change on each line for "taxes". Signed the iPad and asked for a receipt and the salesman refused to print one saying "no money changed so he wasn't able to print a receipt". Got home and that evening and started getting the emails about changes to the account. Now, remember, I just upgraded 2 lines without trade ins.
Here is a list of the changes that the salesman made without asking, explaining, or me giving permission to be done.
*The "taxes" wound up being an optional feature of $10 and some change that cannot be removed for 14 days
*The salesman also changed 2 other phone line plans from premium to starter without permission (ones not being upgraded, 2 different lines all together)
*The salesman also added home tech insurance with a $25 a month fee without asking
If you chose Att Paragould be sure to make them give a print out of changes made to the bill.
I went to AT&T in a nearby town and the store manager took the time to fix everything back to the previous settings and educated me on what...
