Been going to this place for years and never had a problem until this year. Had a contact lens exam and the doctor inquired about my prescription strength. Since I could not remember it off the top of my head she proceeded with the exam and she prescribed me a lower strength despite me indicating I’m happy with my current prescription. Come to realize by a customer service rep, the doctor had access to my previous year records and did NOT review my file and prescribed me a significantly lower prescription. I contacted America best to request a correction since my current prescription and strength is working for me. They only have 4 time slots for follow ups appointments during business hours and only have one doctor at the facility. Checked the online calendar for the upcoming week with multiple time slots available yet refused to offer any flexibility for a follow up appointment which was due to a doctor’s error by not reviewing my chart during the exam and not pointing out the discrepancy on my prescription strength. I Only come to this place for a contact lens prescription due to insurance constraints, but by this point would rather not waste my time and pay out of pocket at my local eye glasses place in Wyckoff for customer service and...
Read moreI didn't have a terrible experience but things could have been better. This was my experience:
I got there five minutes before my appointment time which was 1pm. I didn't get seen until about 1:15 by one the assistants. After, I waited about 45 minutes to see the doctor. I was told they were under staffed. The doctor didn't seem like she wanted to be there. She was saying out loud that she hopes she doesn't have any more patients that day. As a patient waiting there to be seen, that just made me feel bad and I felt like that was unprofessional. When she examined me I tried to explain to her I suffer from dry eyes because I've been wearing contacts consistently for over three years and I was trying to ask her a question about that but she kind of blew me off. I guess she was in a bad mood because they were understaffed but that's not the patients fault.
Fast forward to an hour later, after I was seen by the doctor everyone was in the lobby standing or sitting waiting around to be fitted for their glasses. There was a huge lack of organization there. We were just standing there waiting to be called, not aware of our place in line.
Overall not a terrible experience but it could have...
Read moreAfter the eye exam, the doctor said the prescription "only changed a quarter". So I knew there was only a small change. Then the manager named Nicholas Cleirbaut showed me the prescription. I told him that the prescription is way off. At this point, he became rude and abusive. He asked me "What was the purpose of my visit" ? "Why did I come here ?" All he had to do was speak to the doctor to confirm, but he just said the doctor is busy, without even checking. I drove home, but then I decided that I had to set this guy straight. I came back with my previous prescription that was done at America's Best also. But when I got back, his whole attitude had changed, he was no longer rude and abusive. Looks like he had already confirmed with the doctor that the prescription written on the prescription paper was way off. Then he asked me what I want to do now. I just walked out of the place. This happened in the Kearny location. I did not post anything previously, I just let it go. But when I saw him again working at the Paramus location, looking smug, I had...
