We visited Turning Point in Paramus for a casual family brunch and tried a wide range of dishes, giving us a well-rounded sense of the menu. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, with several highlights and just a few minor areas for improvement.
My sister had the chicken pesto panini and a half Cobb salad. The salad was quite large for a half portion, and the balsamic dressing was excellent; it was rich, tangy, and full of flavor. However, the fried chicken didn’t sit well with her, and she began feeling discomfort before we even left. The panini had great flavor in the center where the pesto was concentrated. Unfortunately, the edges were dry and needed more sauce for balance.
My niece ordered the Grand French Toast, which we all tasted and thoroughly enjoyed. It was perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior and soft interior. Adding a light sprinkle of powdered sugar and a few fresh strawberry slices on the side would elevate both the presentation and flavor.
My sister-in-law had the ciabatta bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with potatoes. She rated it a perfect ten. Her vanilla latte was equally impressive. We all sampled it and agreed it was smooth, creamy, and just the right level of sweetness.
I had the vegan pancakes, which were both hearty and delicious. The portion is extremely generous and best suited for sharing. They were fluffy, satisfying, and full of flavor.
My husband ordered his go-to choice: vegan sausage with eggs and toast. He prefers simple, straightforward meals, and this one always leaves him content.
My mother-in-law tried the turkey ciabatta with a half salad. While she liked it, the rest of the family found it a little bland. We recommend asking for a flavorful spread or mayo to enhance the sandwich and keep it from tasting too dry.
We also shared the avocado toast, and it was a hit at the table. Everyone loved it, including those who enjoy eggs, as the scrambled eggs on top were well-seasoned and fluffy. It’s a fantastic shareable option with a portion size that worked well for our group of six.
In terms of drinks, we tried two fresh juices: the Beet to It and a kale-based option. Both were vibrant, fresh, and energizing. Their tea menu is also worth mentioning. I especially appreciated the jasmine tea; it was fragrant and calming, just the way I like it.
A helpful tip for anyone visiting on the weekend: join the seating waitlist online before you arrive. The restaurant gets very busy, and this will help you avoid a long wait. If you’re comfortable sitting near others, there is also a long communal high-top table and bar seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Both are great options for quicker seating.
Turning Point in Paramus remains a strong choice for brunch. It offers a cozy atmosphere, an excellent drink selection, and several menu items that truly shine. With just a few minor tweaks to consistency and flavor on certain dishes, it could easily become a...
Read moreLIARS. This is the TURNING POINT for you to TURN AROUND. Mediocre food with mediocre service.
Got there at 7:26 am. Told them I had work at 8. I asked them if a quick breakfast was even possible because if not, we'd NOT be able to order and I was in a RUSH. I stated this upfront.
The waiter AND the manager both said they would be quick. Idk what their definition of quick was, but there's absolutely NO way they'd be quick since we overheard them saying their cook was late. Already knew they weren't going to be quick after all. I ordered avocado toast and bacon. There's absolutely no reason to tell us they'd be quick if they food wasn't going to be delivered to us until 20 MINUTES LATER. Idk what your definition of QUICK is, but 20 minutes for avocado toast is NOT quick.
She didn't even remember to give me the orange juice until I was leaving. Husband got coffee, but I sat there with no orange juice until I was leaving.Had to make the food to go because they're ridiculous if quick meant giving me the food at 7:47, I'll eat for a few min, and then run to work? Stress wasn't even worth it for MEDIOCRE FOOD.
After expressing feeling upset about being lied to about how they'd be quick with the food, the waiter wasn't even apologetic. Nobody even apologized. I've cooked and been a waiter at a restaurant before. Never gave people unrealistic timelines. She did NOT care, which speaks volumes for their quality of service. All she said was have a nice day. Psh, thanks for starting my day off in a negative stressful way. If you need something quick, just go to Starbucks down the block for true quick service. Don't let yourself be lied to just so they can get money cause trust me, I told them from the START I'd not be able to order if this couldn't be quick. But nope, LIARS.
Here’s a photo of what took them a...
Read moreThis was my first time here and I came with my family, we were a party of 4. I will start with the positive and why this place got at least 2 stars. Our male waiter was really pleasant and I could tell he really does care about his customers. The ambience of the place is very inviting, cozy yet modern. Prices are surprisingly decent. Now with the negatives and why we won't be back. We did not have reservations so I was expecting to wait. The hostess told us to wait for 35 min on Sunday at 10:55 am. Ok, that is doable and we agreed to wait. Well, it turned into 1 hour and 5 minutes before we were seated and another half an hour to get food. The food was hit or miss. I ordered a gluten free Cubano sandwich and was expecting some crispy melt from a press, what I got was a toasted bread with cold cuts and cheese inside, not melted. The flavor was ok however not what Cubano is. My husband liked his gluten free salmon benedict, so that was a plus, but again he was starving at this point and would eat anything . Another member of our party ordered a regular french toast, and as per him it was ok. My daughter's order came without the sausage she ordered and it was taken off from the bill in the end but that was not the point. Hawai French Press Coffee was a good coffee but not worth coming just for that. The only GREAT item was my daughter's cold brew with vanilla and coconut. She was impressed. Overall, it was not worth killing the Sunday vibe with this hassle. It is a shame because they do have a decent selection of gluten free and vegan options. I think the best bet is to come during the week and smaller parties can get a counter space...
