Where to begin? - A question you might ask yourself upon arrival to this whopper of an antique mall! As with many large malls, there's a great array of styles & interests available amongst their dealers, with some standouts that I haven't seen in as many other shops being midcentury pottery/ceramics, antique glass fishing floats, and a pleasantly well-organized antique books booth. Two categories I look out for when antiquing: cat-themed items and uranium glass. Two categories I found in abundance in numerous booths here: cat-themed items and uranium glass!
The staff was friendly and happy to hold goodies at the front counter while we continued our hunt. There were a couple extraordinarily large booths with disappointing wares, like modern mass-produced jewelry with faux turquoise and other cheap stones, and I don't love seeing that type of thing take up prime space when there are so many other awesome dealers offering vintage signage, collectibles of every era, kitsch, clothing, industrial antiques, hard-to-find video games, and uncountable other things not bought in wholesale! There are the expected number of booths with "I don't really want to sell this" prices, but the majority seemed reasonable and well tended to. I'm always pleased when I see things I've never come across before, like some midcentury brutalist amethyst glass and some stunning antique venetian glass I found here. I am very much looking forward to...
ย ย ย Read moreI am giving Pacific Run Antique Mall two stars because although they have a large selection of interesting antiques, shopping there can be an unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, this store clearly has problems with shoplifting. Although the staff was pleasant and helpful to me personally, they openly talked to each other in front of customers about patrons they believed were trying to steal something. The moment you pick something up that you would like to purchase, staff will approach you and ask to take it behind the checkout counter. If you opt to hold on to the item in question (perhaps you aren't certain you want to buy it yet?), you will immediately be assumed to have nefarious intentions and followed like a hawk. Further, the store follows a strict "one item at a time" policy when looking at items in cases. You are forced to describe the item you would like to see and staff will open the case, retrieve it, close the case, and then let you inspect the item. This draconian policy makes it endlessly frustrating to look at many small items, such as jewelry (even inexpensive costume pieces marked as low as a dollar).
While I feel bad that this antique mall struggles with theft, they really need to rethink staff attitudes and store policies. Security shouldn't dissuade people from patronizing a store and customers shouldn't be made to feel like crooks...
ย ย ย Read moreThis store is really big with a lot of cool items if you were enticed to come here looking for pokemon like I was donโt bother, youโre much better off just buying from tcg everything is market and 1/4-1/2 and when asked why they donโt have an answer, I also just visited today and asked the owner I believe about an etb price and she asked me what a fair offer was. This etb was Vivid Voltage from sword and shield whoโs is around $77 market and she said sheโd be at 100 or more. How do you ask someone a fair price and charge them $30+ over the market value I wouldโve have gladly offered $85. Big no thank you when shopping for their Pokemon products and they do have a lot of it but arenโt going to be able to move it with the way they price things. My first trip in I purchased a darkness ablaze ETB for around $78 which is fairly close to market. I found another 3 spread out the store even more expensive and ranging up to $135 A $60 INCREASE on market. These prices are the worst I have ever seen everything else In the store is...
