I recently ordered a fitness gear water kickboard from Dick’s Sporting Goods through Instacart. When I received it, I was very excited and went straight to the pool to try it out. However, the board turned out to be completely unusable — it has no balance at all in the water, the front part keeps flipping underwater, and the lack of buoyancy makes it unsafe. I even choked on water trying to use it.
Naturally, I brought the item back to the store along with my Instacart return barcode and receipt. But, just as some online reviews mentioned, a woman at the front desk was extremely rude and flatly refused my return. Her reason? “You’ve used it and opened it.”
How am I supposed to know it’s defective without trying it? According to Dick’s official return policy, there is no valid reason for refusing my return. The website only lists a few categories of items that cannot be returned once opened, such as: • Football helmets • Air beds • Electronic scooters and bikes • Face coverings • Ice rinks • Portable lavatories • WHOOP fitness trackers
Kickboards are not on this list.
On top of that, she also claimed I couldn’t return it because it had “no tag.” Where exactly does your official return policy say that an item with no tag but with a receipt cannot be returned? I had the original receipt, yet I was still treated in such a rude and unreasonable way.
This is unacceptable customer service and a violation of your own published return policy. It gives customers the impression that this store doesn’t care about customer rights, ignores company rules, and might even be engaging in deceptive practices.
I strongly urge Dick’s Sporting Goods to: Honor your own return policy and process my refund. Address the poor customer service at this location. Ensure consistency between your online policy and in-store practices.
If this issue is not resolved, I will have no choice but to file a complaint with consumer protection agencies and share my experience publicly so that other...
Read moreI hate hate hate writing bad reviews but my biggest pet peeve is bad customer service. It's ok if a store doesn't have what you need or are looking for but when the employees aren't nice or helpful it just kills me.
Walked in and was not greeted by anyone. Walked around the store twice and couldn't find what I was looking for, Finally got someone's attention to ask for assistance and all they did was point me in the direction as the continued walking away. Now getting frustrated I saw an older gentleman sitting in the golf section and had to ask him if he could walk me over and show me exactly where the item was, it's a pretty big item but they had it stuffed all the way in the back of the store literally in a corner before he left I had to have him check the prices because nothing was tagged.
Before leaving I thought I would look for one last thing but I wished I had not, I should of just kept walking out. I was looking for simple running gloves and no one seemed to know, they kept calling and asking someone named Maribel over he radio. Maribel give 3 different locations as to where they can be in the store, as I walked around and looked still nothing. So again I asked and another employee said they were all out.
This is the part I leave and probably won't come back, mind you this was my first time in the...
Read moreMy nephew used to work at this location and had a great experience as an employee here. So, I went in the store today at approximately 12:45 PM. It was not busy in ANY of the departments. Wanted to try on AND PURCHASE a pair of Hoka shoes for my “senior citizen” feet. I heard they were awesome. Well, I went into the very quiet, customer-free shoe department and was greeted almost immediately by a pleasant young man. We decided on a shoe, he went to grab it for me and that’s where the experience went downhill. I sat there for what literally seemed to be 10 minutes waiting for him to return with my shoes to try on. It took SO long that I finally went to the door of the back room to find out what was going on. There he was, chopping it up with a male and female employee. When I asked what was taking so long, they responded that “he’s getting your shoes now”. Okay…so he handed me the shoes, I walked back over to my seat and tried them on. He followed me out briefly, but then returned to that back room. Tried them on and waited! Then I waited a bit more! Put my shoes on and walked out. They literally lost a sale because I loved the shoes. But, there are actually stores that WANT my money. I will not be...
