Non licensed Staff cost me my cardiology visit when my blood pressure was already 180/100 ..which is why I was sent to Dr Huang.
I can't rate Dr Huang as her front office staff demanded I pay a co-pay i didn't owe despite having a letter directly from my insurance carrier stating I had met my out of pocket maximum for 2024 as of February 22, 2024.
The day before my appointment they called to remind me of the appointment and that I had a $15 copay. I informed them of my copay status and asked them to call Anthem to verify this fact. They said 'ok'
I arrived for my appointment, handed them the letter and they demanded I still have to pay? Obviously they didn't do thier job and call like I suggested they do so there is no confusion
I worked in healthcare for 30 years. Started as an executive assistant. I've been provider relations, contracting, credentialing, sr programmer for physician directories/credentialing, sr financial business analyst programmer, hospital contract analyst. Many other titles that required me understanding how insurance works because my metrics depended on such intricate knowledge for medical presidents/directors, boards and government agencies that allowed medical groups to continue doing business and prove what multiple programs are infact returning proven outcomes in specific categories of chronic illnesses.
Bottom line: i know exactly what our insurance policy entails. And I definitely know when I no longer have to pay a copay of any type. My husband has beyond excellent coverage through his job at the City. Our annual out of pocket maximum is $500 per calendar year. This amount is less then half of what most insurance policies allow and as long as the individual meets this amount, no more copay's are required. Most policies do not meet this status unless the family out of pocket is met, which more than double $500 in our case.
Tip: once your medications start having a $0 copay when picking them up, this is your que to call your insurance company and find out if you met your Max and ask for this letter for all provider's you see.
Many medical offices have staff that can comprehend this and then there are offices with staff like Dr Huang's who are egotistical nitwits that feel they are above others and demand they are right and you are wrong. There are literally thousands of insurance policies based on what an employer is willing to offer based on what it costs the employer to offer and what your willing to pay for.
This front office staff is still in the sandbox of such a learning curve. I had to do thier job for them, in front of them: call Anthem on speaker phone to ask them to call this office to explain what this letter clearly stated in small English words a 5 yr old could understand.
These front office staff members who are not licensed professionals prevented me from seeing the doctor. My last doctors appointment for that day was an hour and a half after this one. My blood pressure was entered into my medical data as 180/100 by this time. I wonder what it was while I was there
After i was told Dr Huang left for the day and was no longer available for my appointment, Anthem did call and verified I don't owe a copay to which they told Tiara at Anthem I was no longer welcome there due to today's interaction. I found that amusing and couldn't stop laughing.
Did I get upset for thier desired attempt at a HIPPA violation demanding money above and beyond the contract agreement signed by thier doctor? Of course I did! Wouldn't you?
Investigations into this situation are being performed as i filed grievances against them because their actions have hugely compromised my health care. The actions of non licensed personnel.
I can't rate the physician when the incompetent staff at the door who could be responsible for others to die by interfering with thier care, prevented my meeting the physician.

Read moreToday was our 3rd visit to Dr. Huang’s office. Every visit has been great and pleasant experience. Dr. Huang was very patient, and professional all through the visit. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly with clarity. We felt very comfortable throughout the meeting with Dr. Huang. The technicians(both Daphne and Jimmy)that performed the stress test were superb. Last but not least, the gentleman at the front desk, I believe his name was Donny,he was also professional. It is so pleasant to hear his voice whenever he calls to remind us of the appointment. Thank you Dr. Huang for the great service with...
