Blue Rooster Art Supplies — Local services in Pasadena

I stubbled into to this AMAZING art supply store by accident, well to be honest their sandwich board sign. It’s not large or flashy, but we’ll done.

Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and welcomed by the team members in the store. The store is well laid out and browsing the aisles seems to be welcomed. It’s a little overwhelming with all the various paints, markers, colored pencils, and other artist supplies.

There’s also a ceramics department located in the rear of the store. If they were to offer pottery classes, I’d definitely sign up for that.

The team members there were extremely polite, as I had questions about the pencil leads and air brushing supplies.

I was shocked when they allowed me to put the items I wanted to purchase on the counter while I continued to shop. The shocking part was a laminated sign they placed besides my items, “still shopping.”

They’re also offering art classes at this location starting on April 24, 2022. I wish I would have known earlier, as I would have arranged my schedule to attend this class.

Oh, this is they’re second location, which is conveniently located near PCC, Cal Tech, and Art Center.

My favorite local independent art store!! They have everything you need and extras you didn’t know you needed. It’s small but mighty- I am a painter who is VERY picky about my art supplies but prefer to shop small and I’m almost always surprised that they’ve got what I’m looking for. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and their boss, Lizard Bennett, is a delight to say hello to when shopping and as a bonus, named after my favorite literary character. Blue Rooster gets 5 stars and the cat gets like 8 or 11 or 23...

Looked like a cute store, too bad we could only stay there for 2 seconds before the shop keeper demanded that we wear masks. We're in late may 2022 and there are no longer any local mandates anywhere. Why in the world would a small store hurt their business like this? The store was EMPTY. I know they're trying to send a political message but to not all artists agree with what's going on. I supported small businesses the whole pandemic, but once again, I was forced to buy the items I...
