I live in the area and shop at all of the Ross locations on a regular basis. Today I visited this location and intended on purchasing home goods for a client. I had a small coffee with a lid in my hand and was informed by the greeter that outside food and drinks are not allowed in the store. As I did not see a trash can and my coffee only had about 3 sips remaining, I apologized and put the coffee in my purse. As I entered the shoe section to the left of the entrance I was approached by an associate who claimed to be the store manager. This woman pointed out that there was a sign on the outside of the store that states no outside food or drinks. I apologized and explained that the coffee was almost finished and pointed out that I had placed it inside my purse. This associate insisted that I dispose of the cup. I then removed the coffee from my purse, finished it and walked to the entrance to find a trash can and placed the cup in the trash. When I came back around the corner this associate was standing next to my husband and very aggressively told my husband that we were banned from this location and we needed to leave or she would be calling the police and filling complaint for criminal trespassing. I asked the woman to please lower here volume and get out of my husband’s personal space. I then asked for her name and her managers name. She refused to provide any information and continued to antagonize me after I had complied with her request. Multiple customers witnessed this very unprofessional scene and left the store disgusted. I walked away from this associate and she followed behind me with another another associate insisting that she had the right to refuse service to anyone at her discretion. She then called the police. When the police arrived they apologized and asked that I not return to this location for the day, and informed me that they would not be issuing any citation for carrying a coffee into the store and complying with the request to dispose of it after being informed by management. Criminal trespassing is a citation issued to individuals that are engaging in criminal activities, not for ladies entering a store sipping on coffee. I was approached and apologized to by a few ladies that also left this location after witnessing this incident as we all walked over to TJ Maxx to continue our shopping. I highly recommend that store management offer some additional training to their associates on how to appropriately handle these kinds of situations...
Read moreThe checkout system is terrible. There were only two cashiers and the store was busy. One of them was not doing anything productive and was talking to the same customer about things that were not related to the store from the time that I arrived until after I had left. The other was not very friendly. I had an item to return and had to step away for a moment, just long enough to get the debit card from the other member of my party, but when I returned, she refused to finish the transaction and made me go to the back of the long line for a second time. When I finally reached the end of the line again, it came to a stand still while she chatted to the people ahead of me about things not related to the store. While I waited, two would-be shoplifters tried to leave the store, setting off the alarm. When they realized that they would not be able to leave without paying, they tried to cut to the head of the line. The cashier did not tell them to go to the back as she had made me, leaving myself and the couple behind me to tell them to go to the back of the line. At last, someone opened a new line. The new cashier did not seem to want to help me when she saw that I had a return, but she grudgingly did. The store is disorganized and it is hard to find what you are looking for. The clothes and shoe racks show sizes, but they really are all mixed. The homeware aisles look like they were hit by a tornado. It seems that the employees do not care about the customers or the state of the store, only about their paychecks and personal conversations. The only positive thing that I can say about the store is that the prices of some of the items are lower than at other stores, but it is worth paying a few dollars more for a...
Read moreThe black cashiers are EXTREMELY racists. In making a purchase, if you're white, don't expect to be treated with any respect or common courtesy. In fact, you can expect to be blatantly ignored if you attempt a conversation and dare to ask her how her day is going. Be aware if you're white and have to make a return. You may be accused of (theft) returning the item with missing parts; even if their accusations can be proven as false. Although it was the most recent experience I've had at this store that prompted me to write this review, my comments are based on multiple, ongoing experiences at this particular establishment. To be clear, when I spend my money at any merchants, I don't expect to be treated with respect because of the color of my skin, but for the simple fact that I'm a customer who's purchases also provide for them job security. I understand that their treatment towards me is not rooted in the color of my skin, but the condition of their hearts. Anyone with a heart full of prejudice and hate, shouldn't work in public places where there is a revolving door of diverse races. I believe It's also the responsibility of management to recognize these characteristics in their employees as they are a reflection of the company as a whole. In doing wedding planning and interior design/decorating, I have spent tens of thousands of dollars at Ross stores throughout the years, and have very rarely ever returned merchandise. However, due to my recent, rare attempt to return a $9 item resulting in my being treated like a criminal by two of the most racist women I've ever met, I can no longer do business with...
