Hacienda Cantina & Grill — Restaurant in Pekin

Went in for the first time, sat down asked about Taco Tuesday special for .99, server said yes we have it. Also mentioned it was our first time there. Went t o order and my bf asked if he could get soft shell and server said yes. We ordered 7 tacos all together, 4 beef, 3 chicken as per the special. Food came and we got 5 chicken, 2 beef but decided not a big deal for .99 tacos. The tacos were barely filled with meat, the chicken was shredded and not that good, and had lettuce and cheese, like I said .99 tacos so you would figure. Got the bill and it was $37.45. We ordered 2 sodas, small cheese sauce, with 7 tacos? Server says only crunchy tacos are on special...so we were charged $3.50 a taco. There was no language barrier or misunderstanding on the fact that we were there for the .99 special. He purposely didn't tell us that the soft shell wasn't included and then acted stupid when we asked about the bill. This guy was in his 40's he knew what he was doing. So, ultimately I will never go back there and just leaving this review right here because it should be noted the price difference between a raw tortilla and a deep fried one is such a serious business expense for this establishment that they will undermine customers just to make a buck. Ridiculous. Makes me wonder how they handle food if they can't handle inventory or customer service.

Always good service and friendly. The owner is usually there directing things. Even when it is very busy, you still get your food quickly. My orders are typically correct, the most recent trip I asked for corn tortillas and got flour, not the end of the world. Typical on the rocks and frozen margaritas, with great specials every day of the week (32 oz margs are $6 on Friday night for instance). They have the best chocolate mole in the area, I love it with chicken and raw onions. Good cheese dip. Kids eat for 99 cents (saw it on a sign outside). If it is someone's birthday, you get to wear a festive sombrero, they smear whipped cream on your mouth, and give you a shot of Patron! Reasonably priced, good service, nice surroundings, good place for kids. There was an open wifi that was unsecured, but I was not sure it was for Hacienda Fuentes, so I did not try to connect. They have a smallish assortment of beers, and of course they have Modelo and Dos Equis, and a full bar otherwise. I have yet to have a bad meal...

We had the pleasure of dining at Hacienda Cantina and Grill in Pekin, Illinois, and we can’t say enough about the incredible service we received from Rivera. From the moment we arrived, Rivera welcomed us with a genuine smile and a warm attitude that made us feel right at home.

He was extremely attentive throughout our visit, making sure our drinks were always full, our food was to our liking, and that we had everything we needed. His knowledge of the menu and his recommendations were spot-on—everything we ordered was delicious!

It’s rare to find such a high level of customer service these days, and Rivera definitely elevated our experience. I will absolutely be returning, not only for the amazing food, but for the outstanding service...
