LaGondola — Restaurant in Pekin

Ordered two family feast dinners, one for our family and one for the neighbors whose husband was hit by a truck on his motorcycle. He has a long recover to go especially since he has suffered brain damage among other things. I had been mowing all day and wife ordered from her work as I went to pick her up which was only blocks away. She informed them she could not find the coupon we had and didn't realize I had the coupon. I forgot to bring it along, and had left it in the house. We told them we could bring it the next morning as I did not want to have to go across town again to get the coupon. We patronize your place all the time, but not anymore as I was told they would not let us get the discount even after I explained the situation. Workers didn't seem to care about a damn thing that I said, except for the young girl waiting on me, who was a sweetheart and I told her I was not upset with her. She said she understood completely and a caring look on her face. It may not seem like that big of a deal, but had been a long day for us, you would think they would at least be caring and say they were sorry they couldn't help. All I got was you cannot get anything without a coupon period. So, Avanti"s just got my business back and will for ever go there for meals when we order out. Trust me, you just lost a lot of money on this deal as I will never step forward in any La Gondola around. I'm sorry I feel this way, it's just that when you're trying to help someone, you would think there would be some courtesy given. Spent some money on a feast for a rehearsal dinner last Friday. Food was ready when we arrived on time, they loaded it all in the van. Seemed great until we removed the lid of the lasagna and saw the entire pan was very overcooked, cheese and edges were blackened. When we cut through it and started serving we could see the entire bottom layer was burnt, the meat texture overdone and dry. Haven't had an issue ordering from this location. Food is always hot and tasty. We had a bigger order a few weeks ago and everything was accurate to what was ordered.

The bread is really good. It's on the sweeter side. My wife likes the lasagna and I like the pizza bread with sausage. The sausage is the crumbly kind which is great. You also get a nice layer of it, so that's appreciated. My other family members like the spaghetti and bread. Garlic bread is great too. Definitely recommend the family feast as a great quick...
