Tint World — Local services in Penn Hills

I chose this location for three reasons:

1. they were listed on the Compustar website as an authorized dealer
2. they have rave reviews everywhere I look
3. their website says their installers have certifications

Why will I not recommend them for your next remote start install? I called and spoke with Joe after sending an email. Joe told me they would install the Compustar remote start, a Drone Mobile module and Compustar 901 2-way LCD remotes for their standard price. Joe proceeded to text me after with some questions and details. I called back the next day to make the appointment then sent Joe a text letting him know I had made the appointment. He called me to finalize things and let me know he would order the parts.

I went in the next week to have the install completed, I was told it would take 3-5 hours. 5 hours later I was told it would be a little longer because the wire that connects the Drone Mobile to the remote starter was crimped from the manufacturer. An hour later I was told I would have to come back the next day to have the install completed and was then handed standard remote fobs. I explained that I had been told I would get the 2-way fobs. This was news to the crew there, and nothing had been ordered. Then I was told it was on back order and I would have to come back a third time after that came in. Why was I not told this before I made this trip? I can understand that mistakes happen, but being told the wire had been crimped in the box? Why was this not checked ahead of time?

I spent two hours there the next day and was told I would get a call when the 2-way remote came in. The following week I called to get an update and was told "Oh, yeah... It's here, do you wanna come down tomorrow?"

Three trips, all a one hour round trip from my house, that should have been one if communication and preparation had happened first. The best part? I was told "I'm sorry. Stuff happens."

I saw quite a few cars with some really nice looking to t leave this place. Seems like that part is done well. I would not recommend them for remote...

Review from December: When I first got to tint world I was looking for an amplifier. When I got there the guy at the desk told me about a few and how much they would cost and it was kinda overwhelming thinking about the price so I decided to go buy one and schedule for them to put it in. Thinking that’s all that I needed because things weren’t explained to me very clearly. So once I came in to get it done, a really cool guy named Mike came from the back and was telling me about the amp that I bought and that I needed a speaker for the amp (which kinda frustrated me) but he said he would make it work for me. Felt relieved he started, then he came back and said the amp I got couldn’t fit the speakers that I have. So he took the time to look at the speakers that would fit the amp I purchased. Found a really good one and for the inconvenience he looked out on the price for the speaker, and told me that he would put it in for me all at once instead of charging me twice for installation. Came back and Mike definitely delivered on everything he said he would. I appreciate him for taking the time to actually explain things to me and how it would sound instead of just trying to make a sale. Made sure it gave the sound I was looking for before I left. This place is the farthest thing from adequate customer service. It doesnt exist here at all. I Got a free quote, i was ok with the pricing so i signed and authorized the quote. Didn't hear a word from tint world. Finally on week 3 I called to try and schedule an appointment. I work day shift during the week so it had to be the weekend or evening. Set an appointment for Saturday at 5pm. Saturday comes around and I receive email stating they had a cancelation if I wanted to come in early I could. Sadly I had another appointment and couldn't make until my scheduled time. I Drive 45 minutes to penn hills location and not a soul in the building. Completely dark and locked up inside and out. I call leave a message and replied to email. Didn't hear a word come Monday, so I take it upon myself to call. They must have caller ID because I called 3 times and they refused to answer the phone.
