I have been going to this petco for quite some time now. I'm known by first name basis there I go there so much. But I feel like I need to speak up on there horrible husbandry practices specifically the bearded dragons they house. Just some background of myself I have been around bearded dragons/reptiles for 18 years, have worked at a zoo, I breed bearded dragons, and im a guru when it comes to them. I always gotta walk past their baby dragons they have because everytime I see ATLEAST 1 dragon that can hardly breath, with stress marks all down it's stomach and neck area. All because petco has horrible husbandry practices. They use carpet that holds nasty bacteria, and they spray the inside of the enclosure down with a pump sprayer. YOU SHOULD NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER EVER mist your bearded dragon's enclosure ESPECIALLY if you're using carpet in there!!!! I mean this is common knowledge yet a pet store like petco does this practice every single day! I wonder how many they have had die because of respiratory infections from the misting. It's literally every time I go in there one of them has it's head lifted looking directly upwards eyes shut with stress marks everywhere and it's having a tough time breathing. It's pure disgusting. When they are babies like that they can't get meds/shots to cure the respiratory infection it's a death sentence so I have no idea why you guys continue to do this to these poor animals. I'm seriously tired of watching those bearded dragons get respiratory infections from horrible husbandry practices. I was just there last night 10/21/2024 I seen 2 dragons in the same enclosure both respiratory problems! It's 2024 you guys need to do better, and if you know better speak up and change it. It's really...
Read moreEveryone who works here has been great. I signed up for the Vital Care program back in Oct. 2020, which is great in theory, but not so easy in implementation. For example, you pay $20 a month for unlimited nail trim/teeth cleaning for your pet, in my case a dog. The problem lies in how the service has to be credited. You have to bring up the coupons on your phone every time you use the service. The $10 rewards you get every month do not always load from corporate office. Any issue that I have ever had has been at the hands of a corporate set up or "process," never an "in-store process" or policy. All of the employees have been wonderful at getting my coupons applied at check out, and treating my pup and I very well. Petco Corp. needs to come up with a more user friendly approach to the Vital Care program. One that is not dependent on your personal cell phone, as my phone is not compatible to their app; the website is not much better. Every time I try to pull up my account to login, it takes me to "store locations". I have called the 1-800 number many times, usually get the same answer, "Sorry, it's new...it shouldn't do that....it...
Read moreI had my pure bread pup in from grooming thinking it was going to be a good experience since my other pure bread was there a few days prior and Courtney did a beautiful job on grooming my youngest Miniature Schnauzer. But today was a big mess. My older Miniature Schnauzer went in and they were to groom him the same way as the younger one. But the Groomer Tayor has no business grooming Miniature Schnauzer Breed. His brows were about shaved off, his beard is gone and his nails were never finished. Then when I went to pick him up they tell me I can't bring him back cause he bit Taylor. I said that I find that very hard to believe cause he has NEVER BIT anyone. I told her the groomer had to of done something to upset him for him to bite. Then I check out and they still had the nerve to still charge me $75 and asked me if I wanted to tip the groomer and I said nope not at all. So if you have a special cut for a certain breed be sure you make sure they know what they are doing. Cause Taylor doesn't know how to cut a Miniature Schnauzer. Good luck to those that try there for grooming. They have lost my...
