They let me into the facility immediately upon arrival. The main room is pretty typical of a mental health urgent care facility. Lazy boy recliners, Netflix on TV, a business center, and a peer support station. This place is different than all the others I have been to, in one way in particular: the service. The peer supports are empathetic and you can tell they love their job. Diana identified with me and shared her story, making time go by much faster, which was much appreciated. She participated in the group therapy with us and really livened up the room. Marcus is an honest-to-god angel. He has the kindest heart and has a gift of getting clients to open up and share their stressors. He's exceptional with fostering emotional awareness using a cross between psychoeducational worksheets and good old fashioned empathy. He can make complex problems so easy to understand.
The way they run things is like a dream compared to my past experiences. Want an extra blanket? Heck yes, they will bring it to you immediately. You dont even have to get up. Hungry but dont want basic snacks and it isn't meal time? Your peer support will make you a hot meal. No joke. Miss the hourly cigarette break? It's okay, let the peer support know youd like a smoke and they will allow you to go on a smoke break. Unprecedented excellent service.
The coworkers and patients were all cracking jokes and socializing, and the atmosphere was enjoyable for most of the time. Nurse's station was frigid cold, but that's not a big deal breaker for me at all.
Overall i felt quite comfortable and hopeful while in this urgent care. I felt respected and taken seriously by the nurse and therapist and psychiatrist. I felt supported and lifted up by the peer support.
I hope these guys get the recognition they deserve. I see bad reviews but Marcus said they stemmed from not being able to accommodate their needs. Am example would be not being able to dose out suboxone because if is a controlled substance. Or having to wait until morning to see a doctor because the facility was busy. Things like that. Dont let those reviews. This place is exceptionally efficient and thorough with truly caring for their patients' needs.
Marcus and Diana, I wish you luck and joy in your personal lives. Dont forget to gratitude...
Read moreI give it 2 stars only because the nurse “Will” was nice and the doctor that I saw over zoom was nice too. But other than that OMG NO ! First of all I got there at 9:20 am . I was in the waiting room until 11 something and finally got brought back just to wait HOURS longer to see or talk to anyone ! Mean while they make us lunch (an hour after the lunch time was supposed to be ) she asked if we wanted corn dog or burritos or PB & j sandwich. I asked if I could have a PBJ because I have gallstones and can’t eat things that trigger an attack . WELL when I said RUDE I mean it ! She looks at her coworker and said wow! She’s saying she can’t eat the corn dog!and give this squinted eye irritated face look Her coworker says … ok well get her a pbj then ! And the lady walks off with an attitude. I’m already having mental health issues , I’m starving, I’ve been here 6+ hours by now & now I have to deal with thier staff belittling me !? I went straight to the bathroom to cry. After coming out I hear her telling her other coworker how she knows she’s fat but at least she doesn’t have gallstone (then proceeds to laugh) ! Like hmmm. Was this a comment to get underneath my skin once again? … I don’t know but either way I felt very very uncomfortable here . I felt worse when I left then I did before I got there . My anxiety was at a 4 when I arrived and now I’m leaving with my anxiety...
Read moreI wanted to be fair in my posting.... and read the other reviews before I am posting this. It blows my mind that, what just transpired with my younger sister at this facility, has apparently happened to quite a few people. The lady on duty (not sure if she is an LVN or RN) is the most unprofessional mental health care professional I have ever encountered. I cannot explain how hard it is to get people to actually reach out for psych care, only to be turned away. They have turned my sister away TWICE! Despite the ER sending her there. I called the other facilities and told them a detailed account of what has happened at the Perris location and they both agreed, they wouldn't have sent my Sister away. I am a disabled Veteran and have been surrounded by suicides, etc and Veterans struggling to get care... but even the VA's system makes it easier to be seen than this place. I plan to file a complaint with both the county and state. Do not remain silent if you have been refused mental health care, especially if you are in crisis. ALL of these employees ultimately work under Dr. Matthew Chang, medical director for Riverside University Health System Behavioral Health. HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE! I have been a medic for many years and would have NEVER treated a patient, the way this woman just treated my...
