I received a haircut and dye job. The haircut was not as layered in a deep u-shape as I wanted in the picture even though there was enough length and thickness to work with. The layering was a very slight u-shape pattern. I'm not upset with the haircut I got, but there wasn't a way to fix it with the length she gave me. If you want a simple, conservative hairstyle, they will be ok. The side bangs were good. Drea asks questions to check, so that's fine, I guess. But the layering wasn't very close to the reference, just so-so. If you're going to charge $90 instead of $60, then the expectations go higher. If you want to say my expectation is for $400 haircuts, idk what to tell you. You're free to make excuses for others. I won't. I've had better layers, fullstop.
As for the dyeing process, the placements of the highlights were well done by Morgan. She DROPPED A LATEX GLOVE ON THE FLOOR AND STILL USED IT instead of replacing it with another glove. I wish I had said something. Now, my hair might have a problem absorbing color, but the hair dye they used washed out waaay too easily considering it was my first time getting a hair dye. It was like they never used the hair dye before and they only left it on my hair for ~25 minutes instead of 35 minutes. They had to slap on some darker hair dye for the last 10 minutes as a quick fix. Doesn't make any sense though considering Morgan had hair samples from my haircut to test, so it's not like she wouldn't have known it might take a little longer than 25 minutes for my hair to absorb color, only to do a cheap fix for the next 10 minutes.
As for customer service, they seemed pretty polite with conversation until mid-way when Joseph starts to help. Idk what the deal was with that guy, but he just came across as condescending towards me and shifted the mood in the room into a negative, snarky direction for some reason. I only engage with small talk and actively listen when the stylist starts the conversation first. I didn't say anything socially retarded and offensive, so idk why he wanted to talk to me like I was one of those 'clueless' women seeking to affirm her new identity with a new hair color. Very fake "nice". I feel sorry for him. I know I'm not specific with the actual conversation that took place and it's hard to convey his tone, but I hope you get the idea. He might behave himself around you though, just something to note.
TLDR; Don't go to this salon. You're much better off sticking to the salon you usually go to if you're happy with their results instead of switching to this one. 2 stars only for the sub-par cut, bleaching, and clean area. Docked off 3 stars for UNSANITARY practice, attitude, and overall passable result for the price you're paying these people. Maybe 2 stars is too generous :/ The tacky responses Drea leaves behind on other reviews that rate them below 3 stars show me unprofessionalism is their modus operandi. Beware.
If you still want to go, avoid making an appointment with any of the people mentioned. Or at least remind Morgan to not use gloves dropped on the floor.
EDIT: My answer still won't change since it's true :) On point #2, please re-read what I typed. I think you are either mis-understanding something or just lying. Take care of yourself. Hopefully, you will take this response as an opportunity to re-examine how staff members engage with customers and...
Read moreSo, my hair is curly and I was bored with my at home styling and wanted to start wearing my hair straight. I am very picky about letting people do my hair, that's why I do it myself. I did my research and came across this salon in a great location in Center City. I chose the salon based on the website and the reviews. I appreciate that the profiles of the stylists are highlighted on the website and I could clearly see most of the stylist had many years of experience. I can't take a chance on my hair with an ameteur. I also appreciated that the base pricing is listed on the website. I chose Ava. The reasons I chose her is because she has over 20 years of experience in the hair industry and a lot of experience in the type of styling I was interested in like curly hair, color, and extensions. My hair is naturally curly, when straight it's about armpit length in the front and bra strap length in the back. I made an appointment online. I must say the appointment process was very smooth and easy and I received clear instructions on their COVID procedures. The day of my appointment, I arrived exactly on time. There was exactly no wait, I was immediately greeted and serviced. Ava was very professional, polite, and down to earth! She clearly understood my hair type and handled it with ease. I received a Keratin Full Complex Treatment and a reshaping. The checkout process was easy and smooth and they have home care products available right in the salon. I purchased the shampoo and conditioner recommended to maintain my Keratin treatment. I don't really have an opinion on the price, except to say that I was not charged more than expected and felt the price suited the experience and the reults I received. Best hair salon experience I personally ever had and I'm picky to say the least. I absolutely love everything about my hair. The treatment was a complete success and I received what I was expecting and more. The "more" was really related to the reshaping. I noticed that after I left the salon, my ends looked gorgeuous and my hair was flowing. I received many compliments from complete strangers, many compliments. I'm going back to do color and I can't wait. Thank you Ava and the Andre...
Read moreI usually love this place, I have curly hair so I come here for diva haircuts and I generally had a really good outlook on the place. I booked three hair and four makeup appointments for my wedding Saturday, I was I guess under the impression that when I made separate appointments they could accommodate us throughout the day, I called to see what the process is and somehow the appointments ended up being a “come in at 10am and we’ll get you started”. Since I originally booked appointments throughout the day from 11-3ish I assumed this means that sometime between then we could all get our makeup and hair done and they’d have the staff to accommodate. I regret that I didn’t make set solid appointments all day, even though 12 hours prior to being told to come in at 10am I had all these appointments booked. My mom and sister came late because they had to install flowers at the venue, and I came at 10. I wouldn’t write a review like this if I wasn’t horribly disappointed. They did only mine and my cousins hair, which really was just curls and hairspray. Didn’t do my sisters hair, only did two makeup. My biggest issue was the makeup. It was horrible. I asked for a bold red lip but didn’t get to choose a color, it ended up being more pink, and I looked like a cakey clown, brows were horrible, lashes crooked. I had to rush over to Sephora and buy makeup remover and all kinds of stuff to redo it myself at the hotel. My sisters was even worse. She wasn’t asked what colors she wanted, and with her blue dress she had this weird purple color on her unlined lips and purple eyeshadow. Eyelashes on crooked, eyeshadow super weird, totally not blended, no real contouring, I had to redo her whole face myself. The best part? They charged me for every single service. Charged me for four makeups and three hairstyling, and we got two absolutely horrible makeups and two curled hair styles. My hair was okay, it held up and I didn’t hate the outcome. everything else about this was so bad. $600 for the whole thing. I’m so disappointed and did not need all that extra stress...
