TLDR bad review of the Kimmel Center's customer service.
I'm really disappointed to announce that it's going to be a very long time until I buy tickets for a Kimmel Center performance again even though I've had amazing experiences at every single one of their performances but the one discussed here. After I had a very lackluster back-and-forth with their customer service via email after I shared the bad experience we had seeing Wicked at the end of November, I asked to elevate the situation to their supervisor because while I wasn't looking for any compensation, they didn't even apologize for what happened and instead blamed me for not arriving on time, when we actually arrived with plenty of time, causing us to miss the first nine minutes of a show I had been waiting over a decade to see and will now never see.
I thought I made progress when afterwards, the claim was elevated and a supervisor called and left me a voicemail apologizing and saying he should be able to comp me two tickets for their Very Philly Christmas, all I had to do was call back and it would get taken care of because he made notes on my account. I called back and I had to go through another entry level rep who couldn't find information on my situation because it turns out that no notes were made on my account. He said the supervisor was unavailable and would have to call me back and at least sent me a follow-up email documenting our conversation.
A week went by, so yesterday, I called back and spoke with another rep who did seem to try her best but couldn't get a supervisor on the phone then either. I told her that I needed an answer at this time because I planned on purchasing additional tickets as holiday gifts and needed to know what my next steps were. She was very thoughtful and was actively chatting with the box office while on the phone with me and understood how frustrated I had become after weeks without any resolution and a loss of hours of my time dealing with this. She was able to promise that somebody with decision-making abilities would give me a call today between 10-11 am so we could figure things out finally, and I am still waiting for that phone call.
Never have I ever been so turned off by a customer service experience in my life. The reps all seemed to do their best and were very understanding, but the lack of communication among everybody was embarrassing and actively wasted my time, which I value very highly these days. Ironically, it was a lack of communication on their end that was the reason for my bad experience seeing Wicked, the reason I was simply calling for an apology in the first place. 0/10 would...
Read moreThe Kimmel Center is a true gem in Philly for live entertainment! 🌟 From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by stunning architecture that sets the scene for an unforgettable night. The lobby’s soaring ceilings, dramatic glass walls, and sweeping balconies make it feel like a grand occasion even before the show begins. Be sure to take in those balcony views—they’re amazing for photos and a perfect way to kick off your evening. 📸
One of the best things about the Kimmel Center is that every seat is a good one! Whether you’re right by the stage or up in the “nosebleeds” (where we usually sit), the acoustics and sightlines are fantastic. 🎶 You can hear every note and see every detail, which makes it a top spot for all kinds of performances—Broadway shows, live music, dance performances, and even comedy. The sound quality is so good that it feels like you’re getting a front-row experience from anywhere in the theater.
Another big plus is the Kimmel’s flexible subscription packages. They make it so easy and affordable to catch multiple shows throughout the year, with different options that help you save while enjoying a season full of entertainment. They also have some nice dining options on-site if you want to make it a full night out. 🍽️ And if you’re more the quick-bite type, there’s casual lobby seating to relax in before heading to your seats.
Getting to the Kimmel is a breeze, too, with nearby paid parking garages and easy access to public transportation. 🚗🚌 It’s definitely our go-to spot in Philly for an evening out, and with the combination of great shows, excellent views, and that beautiful architecture, the Kimmel Center truly has it all. Don’t miss out on this...
Read moreI visited this venue for the first time, since it was the renamed years ago. I invited a group to attend with me, for the Phyllis Hyman Story. Although the venue was beautiful and the staff was great, the seats and the sound was absolutely horrible and embarrassing. People literally feared for their lives in those seats. The seats were also, right on our knees, even the smallest person was uncomfortable. I raved for people to come to Philly for this? Not to mention, they were afraid to stay in the steep uncomfortable seating. The sound was ridiculously inaudible at times and we may as well have sat outside the theater. I called several times to make a complaint and kept getting messages that voicemails were full. All of the money I spent for that evening q ($555.00), you would think the seats would at least be safe, even in the Amphitheater. 4 out of the 7 of us left their seats and stood all the way at the top for fears of falling. This really turned this into a bad weekend that my guests talked-about the entire time. I will not be returning! I was hoping for some redemption of maybe comps or at least a partial refund or something, but they don't answer phones. I felt like I was literally robbed, by attending this venue. I've had tiered seating before, but nothing in 40 years compares to how bad this experience was for is. People were complaining as the show let out and literally sitting out in the halls because of the steep seating and helplessness of not being about to hear the actors! I'm terribly appalled and would never recommend the seating beyond the circle...
