I usually shop at this buffalo exchange and sell my clothing here. I do it out of convenience. The buffalo exchange in New York City (multiple locations have better options and the clothing is less worn)
I give this store a chance because every now and then I find some cool fits and I live close. Reality is I also have to shop every other day to maybe find something worth buying. This is me being kind.
Now for the brutal honesty. They mix clothing that either they bring themselves to sell or they just don't always pay attention when they buy. Ive seen outdated jackets that are jackets from electrician companies or whatever companies they are. They aren't fashion. Or old jackets that look super worn. I overlook it because they need to make a buck. I brought a $300 bomber jacket I wore a total of 3 times. Granted I didn't dry clean it before bringing it but it has no scratches no stains perfect condition. The buyer told me they had bomber jackets like mine that weren't selling. Which was false because the jackets they have are these cheap brands or super old lol. I brought my bomber to 2nd street thrift and they gave me $75 for it. Which is a high end thrift. I initially made a comment saying why won't they buy my bomber jacket but they have outdated old ones for sale ? The person behind the buyer who might have been a manager said I'm being rude and to go away lmao 𤣠I did not raise my voice or say anything abrasive. Buffalo exchange really needs to get better because if not their just gonna go out of business. I'm going to keep my business with 2nd street moving forward. Not only do the buyers know what they are buying. They actually have customer service skills. Buffalo exchange in Philadelphia is nothing like the one in New York. The locations in New York are a million times better. Sometimes I wonder if they profile me because I'll have my gf bring the same clothes they declined to buy from me and they actually buy it from her. I've done that 3 times. That's why when the manager tried to gas light me I didn't even consider her lies. I was subtle yet honest. This stores a joke. %70 of stuff they sell is worn or has stains if it's something name brand and cool looking chances are is there's stains. If it's brand new it looks like cheap stuff they bought.
Good luck buffalo exchange on Chestnut. I'm a business owner and I see your business failing. At least the chestnut location. Pretentious employees who have 0 customer service and have 0 buyer skills. You could use Google and put your pride to the side if you don't...

It was my first time going to the store and Iâve seen the mostly negative reviews on selling, but decided to still give it a shot. I brought 2 huge bags of clothes â 1 bag is full of lightly worn, good quality and brand name items (I only mention theyâre branded because this seems to matter when selling worn clothes), the other bag is also filled with name brands but maybe a little bit more used but still in good wearable quality.
I went in and waited on the selling side. The store seems bright and organized. Everyone seems nice and polite in the counters.
I didnât wait too long and I was called to bring my stuff. The person who was going through my clothes was nice and friendly at first, she talked like she liked my things, she said they donât take winter stuff which on their voicemail said they take all weather stuff. She started going through my things, picked something â put a tag on it and moved on. While she was doing so, another person, presumably a manager, came over, shook her head and said no. So she took the tag off and kept going. From then on, conversation seized, she went through my stuff almost like a routine, and basically put everything back.
The one they almost picked was one of the âleast valuableâ items Iâve brought in and one of the more trendy, âfast fashionâ items.
So lesson learned â they have a very specific taste and style here. And thatâs it and all they care about. Itâs one type of dressing. Itâs more on the trendy, hip, high-top, funky, vintagey look â that a lot of âfast fashionâ brands are currently doing.
I walked around the store after they rejected all my clothes Lol And seem to have good stuff but again, itâs a very specific type of clothing and fashion genre.
Itâs annoying because their site and voicemail and ads make it sound like they are very opent to all and anyy type of clothing but they certainly are not! It would be so much better if theyâre just transparent about what theyâre looking for so people like me donât think we have a place there when we wonât.
So unfortunately, this turned me off on...
Read moreI went into the store with a friend and looked around hoping to find something for a plus size individual such as myself. Seeing the racks of clothing with some dividers for S, M, L, XL inconsistently (there were racks with no dividers, and some with only S & M) I asked a lady that worked there (who was directing another associate so I assume she was higher than a regular CSA) if they had a plus size section. She told me to look in the part that was sectioned on with the XL. Even trying to find anything higher than XL was a challenge as all sorts of sizes were strewn about the âdividedâ part on every rack. I can understand customers not putting a piece of clothing back in its proper section, but youâd think if they face their store theyâd check for proper organization for sizes. I feel theyâre not being inclusive by having a rack for Plus size in particular, making you have to scrounge for a single XXL-XXXL piece if they even have one in the sea of S, M, & Lâs. When my friend checked out their product I noticed their jewelry case with rings and thought perusing it might lift my bad experience; I saw each ring have a barcode attached and on a few that were turned, various sizes. So I asked the lady behind there if she could point out the section where there would be my size, only for her to inform me that they werenât organized but she could âsize them for meâ if I found one I liked. That felt even more ridiculous, why would I pick a ring I like only to be let down if itâs several sizes incorrect for me? It feels sloppy and lazy to not have a simple sectioning of the literally tagged pieces that are in a jewelry case, youâd only need to organize once and youâd simply be able to tell the customer âoh this section right here is the size!â It truly does not seem hard to accommodate customers with the bare minimum of product organization. If they can barely organize their shoe racks by size, they could organize those clothing racks and jewelry case more...
