This school is absolutely a joke. When I attend this school it was so ghetto. There days I didn’t feel comfortable even attending classes. In my class I was the only White student, other students and teachers would make jokes about my race. Several of my items were stolen & nothing never was done about it. Our teacher was a joke, she would leave all the answer out for test walk out the room and allow us to cheat. She would quite us down with princess toni macaroni container. The teacher would spend hours of our PAID class time learning how to do that day lesson I’m anyone class room with another teacher instead of doing her paid job and preparing the night before. I learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I asked for help by the director so many times, I wanted to be placed at a different location, I received NO help, I believe the director name was Victor I went to him so many time telling him how I felt I wasn’t being taught proper & wasn’t going to be ready for state board, all I ended up with was regret now education and student loans.! When it came time learning how to do braids the teacher didn’t teach us because everyone else in the class knew how it do braid but me, but mean while I’m paying to be taught. Instead I had an African American friend teach me so I can get a passing grade on the assignment due at the end of the week. The bowls where you washed your dolls/clients hair would leak all over the floor. And once you hit a certain level become a senior & you go on the floor to assist customers, which they never gave me any clients because my rase was different and they felt I wasn’t able to do the process and the teachers wouldn’t even pick up for me as a paying student and would give someone else the task. All of this was discouraging. With the lack of help the lack of learning , and constantly being around ghetto hood rats who barely could speak properly which including some Of the teachers I had to make the decision this wasn’t what was best for mr and not a safe environment, I had students taunt me push me around and made me feel so uncomfortable, the biggest issue is the educator become friends with the students and the environment is no longer professional. Sorry but this school is was absolutely a joke back then and after reading the reviews it still seems like the ghetto...
Read moreHello! My name is Troi, and I am currently a 6-month student at Empire Center City. My experience here has been nothing short of amazing, thanks to the guidance of my exceptional educator. Mrs.Timbers
She has created a learning environment filled with unity, encouragement, and hands-on engagement, allowing us as future professionals to thrive together. Which is very important to a successful salon space. Not only is she an outstanding stylist you name it she can cash that ticket and with incredible technical skills and ofc style. One of my favorite things about my educator she has the rare ability to teach her craft clearly and effectively in such a fast-paced program. Her passion surrounding the future of cosmetology is insane. As an educator she is very anal about the way we are acknowledged as professionals not only because we are representation of her because she is dedicated to the community in her career. The future of cosmetology!
Empire has been a truly meaningful journey for me, and I can confidently say that my educator’s authenticity, passion, and dedication have had a lasting impact on both my education and personal growth. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a talented and inspiring professional. Grateful for our smallest encounters thank you empire for being the space to introduce my self to the future professional I am from the security I’ve gained through my...
Read moreIf you're expecting a chill, go-through-the-motions type of class, this ain’t it. Ms.Timbers brings intensity, energy, and real-life standards that will either scare you off or shape you maybe both. She’s not the “smile and nod” kind of instructor. She's the “fix your sectioning, clean your station, and do it better” kind. And weirdly enough? You'll thank her for it. What I respect most is she doesn’t treat this like a job. She treats it like a mission. She’s in that classroom for a reason to prepare you for a world that doesn’t care how good you think you are. She wants you to walk out of school knowing how to actually work in this industry, not just pass tests. She holds you to a high standard, but never lets you forget why you started. She’s the kind of educator who won’t let you hide in the back or settle for “good enough.” She sees what you're capable of and doesn’t let you play small even on the days you want to. She’s got high expectations, a sharp eye, and a no-BS attitude but she balances it with a sense of humor and real-world advice that sticks. You’ll leave her class with better technique, more confidence, and a clearer understanding of what it takes to...
