Changed my review from 5 to 2 and then back to 4 stars because my experience at Luxe has been so mixed, depending on who does my nails and whether I call ahead or walk in. I recommend calling, and asking for a specific person (check reviews for names of some of the good techs) or service. Leaving both my original reviews below, but editing this note to say I've since tried again, and I've now had more good than bad experiences. What's important: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. The ladies here are not all the same quality techs. ----- From August '21 - Luxe Nail Bar has become my go-to spot in West Philly to get my nails done! My first time in was for a simple mani/pedi with my visiting Mom and sister, and the experience and staff were very nice. It was my second time heading in that made me really like the place, however. I was producing a big event and wanted a manicure to match our event branding, so I showed V the graphic for it on my phone. V did SUCH a great job at interpreting the poster I showed her into an awesome set of nails - I've gotten so many compliments! I trust this place to have great service and they are a rare spot I can head to get a quality manicure every time - even when you need something a bit fancy. ------ October 16, 2021 I've had to go to Luxe 3 times this week to address a gel mani-pedi from Kim. The work was sloppily done in every way - uneven, misshaped, missing spots of top coat - and I wasn't initially going to sweat it, but a few hours after, I realized a huge bubble had formed and was peeling off the gel on my big toe. I went back and the manager told Kim to fix the whole mani-pedi, because she saw obvious errors. Kim sanded off only the top coats, then put a very thick layer of gel on, rather than starting from scratch. Meanwhile, she bad-mouthed the manager, whose refusal to get new drying lights she claimed was the problem (it wasn't). I left that night with nails misshapen from having so much caked on paint, but they were better than before, so I wasn't going to complain. I filed the manicure to fix the shape and thought that was it. The next morning I woke up to improperly applied gel peeling AGAIN, this time on my fingers. When I came in the third time, the manager seemed annoyed. I don't blame her, I was annoyed too - I'd spent $120 (including tips) and 4 hours on one gel mani-pedi at that point. I refused to have Kim re-do this time, so instead Lisa started from scratch with my manicure. It was a much better job. I didn't have time for a pedicure fix, but I was considering coming back to get it done later, so I had Lisa look at my toes too. When I did, the manager got upset that I was addressing my toes when I'd asked about my manicure initially. I tipped Lisa and left. I could see myself going back for a manicure appointment with V specifically, but I'm definitely never getting a walk-in here again and may not come back at all.

I’ve visited this place three times in about a year. I’m not one who gets my nails done regularly as I’m a chemist and tend to ruin them rather quickly. The first two times were for a regular pedicure. The first time was okay, nothing special and felt rushed, but I was close by so I figured I’d try again. The second pedicure was great. I wish I knew the girls name to give her credit. She was very meticulous and took great care. The third time I went was to get my nails done for a wedding. I got both a pedicure and a gel manicure. I went a week before the wedding and was very hesitant as my my nails ALWAYS chip within a week (hence why I never get them done). I was limited with time however and just bought the matching polish color to touch up myself (but haven’t needed to) Everyone always tells me gel should last about two weeks, but I’ve never had a full manicure last more than a week at best. However, the guy that did my nails was fantastic. I really wish I knew his name because I’d go back and request him every time. Out of all the salons I’ve visited he has been the best. It’s been 10 days since I got them done and they still look great. Photo attached. Besides the new growth you’d never know! The techs are friendly! The prices are comparable to other places & the business is very clean. Lots of color choices as well.

I have been coming to Luxe Nail Bar for many years. I love the customer service and the staff especially Ve, Richard, Cindy, Amy, and Nee. Lin was the previous owner and the new Owner Jenna is equally kind and welcoming to the customers. I have never had a problem making an appointment. The work is quality and they take their time to make sure that they are giving you what you’ve asked for and want to ensure you are satisfied the shop is stunning with great decor and ambiance. Prices are fair and they offer discount options after a certain number of visits. I moved away three years ago and there are several shops that would be more convenient for me to go to, however I still chose to travel, because they are truly worth it. My nails never chip, peel or fade. It last greater then a month which means it takes me forever to return. I bring all my friends to the shop and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good service near the university area. You won’t regret it at all.

I visited this nail salon today. I was serviced by a young girl named Nhi. I only learned her name because it was printed on my receipt. She never introduced herself to me. Overall, I found her to be extremely rude and ignorant towards me during my visit. Constantly speaking in her language and puffing every time I tried to explain to her what I wanted done. Apparently, she had a problem with this. It was my first time there so I didn't think it would be realistic for me to expect her to read my mind regarding what I was expecting as a customer. She didn't like it when I asked her to scrub the heels of my feet because she barely touch them. She constantly rushed my services. In addition they don't use razors so naturally I would had needed her to put some effort into making my feet appear as though I actually just got a pedicure instead of looking like I only got a polish change. As this visit came to an end, I went to sign my receipt (paid with credit card) and add on a tip although I was disgusted with her personality and lack of professionalism, she had the nerve to ask me to give her the tip in cash. Girl! Excuse me! You're customer service is horrible! Better be lucky you're getting anything! And she obviously never considered that if I was paying with a credit card that I likely didn't have cash on me. Damn! She actually ended up getting no tip because she became even more rude as I was attempting to give her a tip in cash and she walked away! She didn't say 'thank you for coming' 'please come back to visit' nothing! Oh, and she deliberately charged me the wrong price! For what I got done, I was supposed to get a discount! I will be visiting them tomorrow to get reimbursed for the overcharge.

Bottom line, that was my first experience. She represented that business poorly and as a result, I won't be going back.

A direct message for Nhi. I have a translator app on my phone! Treat people the way you would like to be treated! How would you feel if I spoke disrespectfully about you in my language that you couldn't understand?

P.S. I only gave my experience a rating of one star because this was the lowest rate I could give! Had to...

Luxe Nail is hands down my go-to spot whenever I want to treat myself to a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The salon is conveniently located right across the street from a college campus, so depending on the time of day, it can get a bit lively and busy with the college crowd. However, during quieter hours, it’s a peaceful and calming retreat. I’ve even found myself so relaxed during my pedicures that I’ve dozed off! The atmosphere here is incredibly soothing, and they truly know how to create a serene environment.

Vee and MiMi are my absolute favorites for manicures and pedicures. These ladies are super talented, and their attention to detail is unparalleled. They’re not just great with the basics, but they truly shine with their freehand artistry. Whether I'm looking for a classic, elegant style or a fun, intricate design, Vee and MiMi always deliver stunning results. They have a real flair for keeping my nails healthy, and making them look perfect every time.

But let's not forget Richard, who is also a standout at Luxe Nail. He gives the best massages with his pedicures, and after a long week of being on my feet, there’s no one else I’d trust to give my tired feet and legs the extra TLC they need. Richard’s foot and leg massages are pure magic—he really knows how to work out the tension and make you feel pampered from head to toe. I always make sure to schedule my pedicure with him when I’m in need of some extra relaxation.

Overall, Luxe Nail is a gem, offering top-notch service, talented staff, and a serene environment. Whether you're getting a simple manicure or indulging in a relaxing pedicure with a massage, you’re guaranteed to leave feeling refreshed and looking fabulous....
