HipCityVeg — Restaurant in Philadelphia

I have been a huge fan of hip city veg for going on near 10 years now, I’ve put my family and friends on to their food and they are big fans now too! I think most of their food is solid, but I like most, I have my faves. They’ve recently changed their menu and I was nervous but figured I would try the new items. I was not expecting for so much to be removed from the menu, I HATE when restaurants get rid of items. Usually they are not replaced with anything that can live up to the legacy.

Not wanting to be a stick in the mud, I gave the new items a chance and was put off. The mushroom blooms were incredibly greasy and lacked any real flavor. The bottom of my bag literally looked like I dropped a bottle of water on to it. I actually got scared that I had somehow spilled juice inside of it. Still, I tried some and couldn’t even finish them. Texture was bad and it was just a mouth full of of grease. I paid money to pitch them right in the trash. Green goddess dressing was meh, nothing could mask the awful taste of the mushrooms.

Unfortunately, they no longer have their taco salad or their Caesar salad. Tbh I don’t think I will head to hip city nearly as often as I did before unless I happen to want some lemonade or a milk shake. If I want something fresh and plant based I will head...

Here is review The place is at good spot. You need to be lucky to find parking spot because its in middle of city. Take your time to find parking. The ambiance is good. Service is okay. I specifically went there to eat tofu wrap, however I am terrified to eat it. It was dry wrap without much of tofu stuffing. The sauce was very less and lot of spinach i felt like eating dry and just hard to swallow it. The same case with burger. It was again dry. The creamy factor missing in it. They neither give any sauce to eat so how could you swallow dry bites.

The quality of tofu wrap I had earlier at Washington DC hip city veg led me to go here. However I am totally disappointed. Traveling to Philadelphia from New Jersey doesn’t felt like worth it. Again got same issue with dipping sauce with sweet potato fries. The fries are awesome, but they gave just less than spoon of dipping sauce for large fries. They charge 4.65 something for it. How fair it is. Overall okay place to eat vegan, i had enjoyed the same food at another place but this one is didn’t felt...

You guys gave a VEGAN cheese. I hope that upsets you as much as that upset me. Being that this is a vegan/vegetarian place I would THINK that you guys would take a no cheese order seriously. Made an order through door dash my order was 2 smokehouse burgers one without cheese. The one without cheese was mine being rhat I'm vegan not vegetarian. Also order two sweet potato fries with two hip city sauces ( we never got the sauce ) ordered a cola ( didn't recieve that either ) and a chocolate shake ( that arrived !!!! ). I got my order looking for a no cheese label and there wasn't any. I though m maybe they forgot . Checked and both burger had cheese. You gave a Vegan cheese !!!!!! Are you kidding me ! Anyways I contacted door dash and they will be investigating but I truly hope this doesn't happen to another vegan again thats not ok. You do not give a vegan cheese it's so disrespectful. Also you forgot the sauces and cola but I'm more upset that you gave me cheese. So much money was spent here I paid for...
