I can't speak for the ice rink, but the roller rink in the summer is BAD. Don't go here, just go to the RiverRink instead. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews about this.
The surface of the roller rink is so rough, uneven, and bumpy that it's unskatable, especially for beginners/tourists/casual skaters. It's not one flat continuous surface, but rather, it's a bunch of 2-foot plastic squares snapped together, and there are lumps at every single joined edge. Also, it was pretty small and crowded, even with timed tickets, so you're constantly dodging people. To be fair, I went on a Saturday.
This rink is only good for taking a couple photos with the colorful decoration, and that's it. If you're actually trying to skate, don't come here. The other one redeeming factor of my visit was that there was a nice little water ice stand.
If after all this, you still want to go.... you should also know that if you want to rent a locker, you can bring your own lock and use a locker for free (or just don't use a lock and use it at your own risk). The $10 "locker rental fee" when you purchase tickets just buys you a physical masterlock dial...
Read moreGreat winter holiday atmosphere. Decent food and good drink. Horrible rental skates. They have "new"" rental skates this year from years past but apparently have given up on the idea of having blades sharpened. The new boots are not as comfortable as years past because they have gone to all plastic. The buckles are a two minutes faster than laces but not worth the change. Rental skates always suck everywhere but these were the worst. And come on, cant you at least sharpen the skates once before the season starts? There is no way the pair I wore has been sharpened... it was a bad experience skating even though I skate well. So, bring your own skates if you want to enjoy the actual skating part... if that part doesnt matter to you, it's a nice atmosphere to slip...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. Went last night for my birthday and it was awful. Let’s start by the food and drinks were overly priced. But I guess that’s Philly. Then you had the girls working at the counter screaming and yelling your name to get your food. Then had to wait in a 30 min line even though you bought your ticket online. Then waited for skates and this kid throws the lock for our locker on to the counter and knocks into my hot chocolate spilling it all over me and down my jacket. Not 1 apology. Thank god my jacket was black! Then not a single skate was sharpened and the rink was horrible. Everyone was falling. I was so pissed we skated for 20 min and left. Go to the pens landing one instead!!!...
