Located in an older, historic building The Residence Inn Philadelphia City Center is a great central option for all the city has to offer. Highlights ⬆️ Prime Location: The hotel is within easy walking distance of most major sites, the business district, Penn Medicine, Temple U City Center, and Reading Terminal Market. Public transportation is readily accessible, making it easy to get anywhere you need to go without a car. Be aware that hotel parking is expensive if you choose to drive. ⬆️ Comfortable Rooms: Our upper-floor corner room was very spacious, offering great views of the city. The in-room kitchen is well-equipped for cooking, and the closet is a good size. The only minor points are the small but functional bathroom and a desire for more USB ports on the desk (though they are available by the bed). The room remained cool and comfortable even on hot days. ⬆️ Convenient Amenities: A small but functional fitness room is available in the basement. The guest laundry room is also very nice, with plenty of modern machines that accept credit cards or a mobile app for payment. ⬆️ Attentive Staff: The staff, especially Ty and Mark at the front desk and the breakfast crew, were exceptionally friendly and made us feel welcome. ⬆️ Local Touches: The complimentary hot pretzels from the Philly Pretzel Company and lemonade are a nice local touch that sets the hotel apart from offering standard afternoon cookies. ⬆️ Quiet Room: Despite being in a large city, our high-floor room was very quiet, with minimal traffic noise and rarely any sound from other guests. Areas for Improvement ↘️ Check-in/Check-out Times: The 4 PM check-in and 11 AM check-out policy feels restrictive. This can make it difficult to get a full 24 hours out of your reservation without paying extra. I think we should push back on hotels over this, needs to be much less time spaced. ↘️ Outdated Technology: The rooms could benefit from more USB ports and updated televisions. ↘️ Unresponsive Chat Feature: The chat feature in the hotel app was unresponsive on multiple attempts. ↘️ Inconsistent Housekeeping: The room was clean upon arrival, but the provided toilet paper and paper towels were nearly empty. This was taken care of on day 2 when we got housekeeping (not sure it you have to request for everyday).

Room was clean on interior upon check in. Staff was friendly and verbally very responsive on requests. We requested room service the day before twice in our four night stay. We received housekeeping zero times. The “hot breakfast” consisted of an apple, a granola bar and a yogurt all three days we bothered picking it up. The Valet was excellent and very fast when we needed them but that was just on check in and then we returned car the next day. Front desk staff was always helpful on the phone generally we received requests within ten minutes. One time we had to request again the next day and once they just accidentally had a miscommunication but fixed it immediately. They need to be clear on hot breakfast because it is not at this time and they need to have a better system on housekeeping staying four nights and never getting housekeeping was not what we or anyone should expect for a near $1k stay. Location is really close to many things in the city, we used the train on checkout which worked fine to get to the airport. Uber was super convenient when it was a little further away like the Zoo. Sadly Marriott corporate or local management has neglected window cleaning looks like at least months of debris so not a huge deal since we were low to the ground but not particularly appealing in rooms without balconies. If they could flip to tap room cards those are much more convenient. We have stayed with hotels who had either straight cards or some even would work with our smartphone. The Marriott in room entertainment at this was convenient. They don’t let you use everything you have on your device but in our stay supported Prime, Netflix Chedder I believe and a few others I had not heard of before. They did have a smart remote option to use in room remote or your smart device as a remote. The juxtaposition between staff who really seemed to be trying their best and our experience on the basics of housekeeping and just fresh towels daily was something we just didn’t want to worry about on vacation. With such nice staff and a terrific city I can see how most people gave this hotel 4.2 stars and if we had gotten a hot breakfast and housekeeping at least a few times maybe a 3.5 but can’t give it higher today for our stay.

Would give a 4.5 if I could. I've traveled _a lot_ to Philly over the past five years for business and leisure, and my May 2023 stay at this Residence Inn was wonderful largely because of the front desk staff. Due to a sold out concert and multiple graduations, the property was totally sold out but Zahrah was able to get me in early with a stunning view from the 21st floor when I arrived early at 11am. The rooms have had light recent renovations, including black-and-white kitchens with newer appliances, fresh bedding, and paint. Breakfast buffet has great hours and is above average with real scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, yogurt, DIY waffles, pastries, toast, coffee, and hot water for tea. Could use a bit more fresh fruit, if I'm splitting hairs. Rooms are spotless other than a bit of light staining on the sofa upholstery and some dust around the window sills that wouldn't have been noticeable if I hadn't been gobsmacked by the stunning view of City Hall and Center City. Sheets and towels were spotless and fresh. Best of all? The location. Walking distance from Reading Terminal Market, Chinatown, the Gayborhood, and the SEPTA buses and sub, which can get you almost anywhere in the city for $2.50 cash. Can be a touch loud at night, so bring earplugs if you're a sensitive sleeper. Great for a longer stay, tourism, families or groups of friends.

Don't be fooled by the nice photos on the website. The rooms are trash. Bathroom especially makes the room the worst. First there is a desk and a chair that does not go under the desk so it blocks half of the hallway leading to the bathroom, which makes absolutely no sense. Why would they put a chair in that location that does not fit under the desk?

Secondly the bathroom door opens inwardly which wouldn't be a big problem if the bathroom wasn't tiny, so when you have to completely open the door to get inside and then completely close is to actually use the sink/mirror area.

Another thing is the shower has the worst design I've ever seen. They have a moving pane of glass that tilts inward and outward.. Except that it covers like 1/3 of the shower! So when you shower water goes everywhere, every single time that you shower so you have to lay down a bunch of towels on the floor to soak up the eventual puddles that you'll be creating due to the stupid design. I even try to tilt the shower glass all the way inward to avoid water splashing out, but nope.. Water will still get out and all over the floor. It's so fun when you're getting ready for work and are all dressed up and then step in a puddle with your socks on..

They also only give you 2 full size towels and housekeeping comes around every other day (if they even come! I had coworkers that called 3 different times to get their rooms serviced and they never came).

The bathroom hairdryer is about as good as a 10 year old $15 hair dryer you get from Walmart.

Their soaps and lotions feel like the cheapest of cheap quality.

They also have a sign on their bathroom door saying that Marriott is not responsible if valuables get stolen in the room and have some Pennsylvania law printed out and posted on the door saying that if you don't put your valuables in the safe and they get stolen then tough luck.. But also, there is not even a safe anywhere in the room!

The ottoman in the living room area is broken.

There is a full length mirror that is attached to the closet, which is nice. But when you slide it open one side of the closet door completely covers the mirror. They should have switched the doors and put the mirror on the outer side so that it is always accessible.

Another one is the elevators, 2 out of 3 elevators go down to the lower level where the gym, meeting room and laundry facility is located. So if you get the elevator that doesn't go down all the way you'll have to transfer to a different elevator or wait for another one.

There's 3 entrances in the lobby, 2 doors and then a revolving door in the middle. Only 1 entrance was actually accessible throughout my stay. Which isn't a big deal, but a bit weird.

There are some positives, the gym is decent, TV is large, free breakfast is solid and the rooms come with a decent kitchen. But there's just so many little annoyances that really don't make up for the few positives IMO.

For a Marriott property that is in the city center and of a major metropolitan city this is just unacceptable. Major updates are needed in this location. Go to the Marriott 2 blocks over that is attached to the convention...

Hotel room was clean. Housekeeping service provided every other day. We stayed here for 5 nights. Carpet was outdated: there was duct tape patching the bald spots on the carpet.

The window views were phenomenal. We could see City Hall very well, including the Ferris Wheel that was part of Dilworth Park. Hotel's parking was $66/night, so we chose a competitor about two blocks away for $29/night. Public street parking was free on Thanksgiving Day.

Hotel told us we could park for 15 minutes to unload our luggage into the room. When we got back to the car, we were boxed in by a parking valet employee for several minutes. He saw that he had trapped us, but went inside the hotel and took his time getting back.

I asked for a bottle of water on the second day and was told water was free only at check in even though we were Lifetime Titanium Elite members (the highest level). There would be a charge for the water if it wasn't check-in time.

The bathroom sink: water was cold and pressure was low during the first two days. However, if we turned on the hot water for the bathtub, in about 5 minutes, the water for the bathroom sink would be warm. The water temperature was eventually fuxed, but the pressure remained low.

Breakfast: Outstanding employees. 5 stars for the buffet crew. Professional, friendly, and helpful. Belgian waffles, sausage (usually turkey, sometimes pork), potatoes (Thanksgiving and the day after), scrambled eggs, fruits, muffin sandwiches, oatmeal, juices, cereal, yogurt, and coffee/teas were some of the available food items. The dining room and lounge area were on the second floor and need the hotel card access.

Gym is in the basement. There is a water cooler there where you can refill your bottle. Would be good for the hotel to offer a bottle refilling station on the second floor.

After I checked out of the hotel, there was a mother and daughter who checked out after I did. The hotel employee offered bottles of water to both. Free. I wasn't offered any water at check-out. I was still at the reception desk when the two people were given free bottled water. There were two employees at the reception desk. It was the employee on the left side who gave out the water. The mother and daughter were both white. I am polite and friendly, but I am not white. Well, neither were the employees at the reception. This happened on Friday, November 24, 2023,...

I recently had an extremely frustrating encounter with the customer phone service of Residence Inn by Marriott Philadelphia Center City on Sunday at 7:15 PM. The lack of professionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction displayed during my interaction left me deeply disappointed with the service provided by this hotel.

Attempting to reach the customer service department was an exercise in futility. Despite multiple attempts, my calls were met with long hold times and an overall lack of responsiveness. It seemed as though the staff was either understaffed or simply disinterested in addressing customer concerns. Not only did this waste a significant amount of my time, but it also demonstrated a complete lack of respect for the importance of prompt and efficient customer service.

When I finally managed to speak with a representative, their demeanor was shockingly dismissive and unhelpful. Rather than demonstrating empathy or attempting to understand my issue, they seemed eager to rush through the conversation and get me off the phone as quickly as possible. The lack of professionalism was evident in their curt responses and failure to provide any real solutions or assistance.

Moreover, the representative exhibited a complete lack of knowledge about the hotel's policies and services. I had specific questions regarding amenities, booking procedures, and cancellation policies, but their responses were vague and contradictory. It was evident that they were ill-prepared and lacked the necessary training to effectively address customer inquiries. This level of incompetence and disorganization is simply unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber.

As a guest, I expect the highest level of service and professionalism, even over the phone. Unfortunately, the customer phone service at Residence Inn by Marriott Philadelphia Center City failed to meet even the most basic standards. Their unresponsive nature, dismissive attitude, and lack of knowledge left me feeling unheard and unvalued as a customer.

Based on this appalling customer phone service experience, I cannot recommend Residence Inn by Marriott Philadelphia Center City. It is clear that they prioritize efficiency and profit over customer satisfaction. If you are seeking a hotel that values your time, concerns, and overall experience, I strongly advise...
