Went there several times and was spoiled early on by having always been served by a waitress who was super-professional and super-nice (wish I knew her name to give credit--thin young woman with dark hair). Early on even the counter persons seemed very friendly and food was always acceptable, which is what I would expect from a "greasy spoon" like this. However, on my last visit, I had a different waitress and though not out-and-out rude, seemed to cringe whenever I asked her for something--WHICH WAS ONLY 2 TIMES!

Then I get to the counter with my credit card in hand and was told that they only take cash on weekends. (I guess I had only been there on weekdays because I always paid with a card.) Probably seeing my displeasure, the cashier very demonstratively points to a sign taped to the counter announcing the rule and says "See." Who in the hell walks into a diner and says "Let me go to the counter and look for house rules that might be taped there?" Post that on the door and/or inform people verbally as they walk in--BEFORE THEY EAT!

After experiencing the poor service from the waitress and the weird weekend rule, my whole opinion of the place changed. Instead of being a kind of cool, friendly place to get a quick bite of decent food, it then became a place I never wanted to step foot in again....

If I would have reviewed this yesterday, it would have been 5 stars. Everyone was so nice and polite on Saturday, the gentleman working there even helped me to get out the door since I was carrying 3 drinks. The food was fantastic, and they even remade an order when they noticed it was incorrect, without question to make sure it was right. Super and fantastic is all I had to say about it. So we were excited to have one more opportunity to pick up breakfast from there today. However, Today, I had to walk out. They were clearly a bit overwhelmed with lots of people/calls, which I understand. But the blonde woman on the phone as we walked in was rude from the start, rolling her eyes as we told her that, no, we were ordering take out and not sitting down to eat there. Them she was extremely rude, yelling at a coworker, who was busy serving tables and trying to also check out other customers. They proceeded to argue for a few minutes, using explitives at one another. And the nice server, asked if the blonde would help us check out, who disgruntled, walked up to check us out. But the prior few minutes, and feeling like we were more of an inconvenience than a customer...I left at this last ignorant move. Saturday crew...I'll come back for...

Don't let their generic-sounding name deter you as these guys were legit! They're located right next door to where we were staying (Le Meridian hotel) which is how we ended up here as there weren't too many breakfast options within walking distance as our time was limited.

ATMOSPHERE: The diner feel is prevalent with simple decor and low top seats abound.

MENU: Breakfast selections, soups, salads, diner-style apps, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, burgers, desserts, breakfast & brunch catering menu.

FOOD: Western Omelette - $8.99 Standard fillers were ham and green peppers. I added mushrooms and spinach for just $1 and substituted onions for mushrooms with home fries as my side. Everything was delish, including the rough-chopped home fries with nicely seared parts.

SERVICE: They weren't very busy even for a Wednesday morning so we got seated immediately. Our female server was super friendly with very nice personality. Thanks!

TIPS: Paying with a credit card generates a processing fee of 40 cents.

They're open early 7-days a week but close at 5pm.

OVERALL: Half the price of IHOP with comparable portions and a true...

A part of me wants to give the rating a two star, but this wasn't a horrible experience, and so it gets three stars. First, the food is incredibly mid. It's bland but not bland enough where it's just bad food, but it definitely is not food worth over $20 with a drink. The chicken philly I got was pretty bland, and so was the philly my friend ordered. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good, but that was it. The fries were just, normal fries you could probably buy at a grocery store in a frozen bad. Not only that, but having no AC in the restaurant definitely didn't help. Our waitress barely attended to us, but she was also cooking at the same time so I can't blame her. Overall, if you're wanting food in Philadelphia, do not make Food on First your first choice. Even if it seems affordable, one, it's not, and two, it's definitely not worth it.

“From Grits to Coffee: Perfect Start to the Day” Looking for breakfast in Philly, I stumbled on this spot and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever! We were seated right away (a win when you’re hungry), and our waitress was friendly and on point. The food came out fast, and the portions? Generous enough to match our appetite—just like home cooking. We had waffles, eggs with cheese, turkey bacon, cream chipped beef, grits, and pancakes. The turkey bacon was thick-cut and full of flavor—no paper-thin nonsense here. And the grits… wow. Perfectly cooked. So good we asked to thank the chef in person! The coffee was excellent—my personal breakfast test—and the staff made us feel so welcome we lingered longer than planned. Next time I’m in Philly, this will be my go-to breakfast stop. Big kudos to the chef!
