I was waltzing down Main Street Manayunk when a dude walked past me after coming out of Safa Plant Co. I thought to myself…Either this was the best smelling body shampoo of all time…or he was drinking a candle. After a series of deeper sniffs and a creep-like follow for a half a block I determined it was indeed whatever liquid inhabited his cup. I made my way back to Safa and ordered the Blueberry Pomegranate Tea from a menu that was more enticing than a DM from Halle Berry. The atmosphere was horticultural AF. I felt like I was standing in the middle of a clean and modern metaversed version of the Garden of Eden. The candles for sale looked and smelled damn near edible. They have food on the menu too so after sipping the 300 second steeped tea both me and my tastebuds agreed that we should come back for that like a boomerang. For now. It’s just a liquidious love affair.
Safa Plant Co. is worth a stop when in Manyunk. Just know that if a stranger smells what’s in your cup you may be followed….Speaking of follows….please follow along or at least give a thumbs up if you found this review helpful. Read moreUnique cafe specializing in tea which is hard to find in Philly. Had the Coconut Cacao tea and the Ash-E-Reshteh which is a Persian noodle dish. Everything was excellent. Tea was something I've never had and it had a sweet nutty flavor. The pasta dish had a tasty pesto type flavor.
I also got a couple desserts. I had some Persian baklava which was a little denser than the normal kind and had pistachios in it. I also had a honey pastry which reminded me of a crispy funnel cake made with honey inside. It is similar in taste to an Asian lotus cake or moon cake if that helps anyone.
It's a nice shop run by a mother and son so if you're looking for an alternative to the many coffee shops in town, I would give this a try. Bonus points for the pun in their wifi password: tea-rex! (note the password is all lowercase and includes the hyphen and...
Read moreMy review is just about my plant shopping experience. The owner Amin loves plants and is hosting houseplant pop-ups every Friday-Sunday 12-8 pm. While it's normally a teahouse, he says he is rebranding and plans to have these sales every weekend. Parking is a bit tricky in the area on weekends, but I found free one-hour parking on the next street over (Cresson St under the bridge). I brought a friend and we both had specific plants we were looking for--Amin was really knowledgable about them and really fun to talk to. We were both really happy with our purchases. She got a monstera deliciosa and I got a philodendron birkin. Both were really healthy, affordable prices, and had new growth within 1-2 weeks of...
