I have to take a moment to post this RAVE. As a Philly native, cheesesteaks have been a fixture in my life forever. I often have friends visit from other places and a guaranteed ask is “where can we get a good cheesesteak?”…. This is often accompanied by a discussion about posts they’ve seen online naming different establishments yadda yadda… of course they ask about Geno’s, Pat’s & Tony Lukes…. Which are all mid unless you’re wrapping up a night of drinking and then they come in CLUTCH! I realize this is all a matter of personal preference and taste but to me, Angelo’s of South Philly was the best cheesesteak I’ve had. This week, after seeing reviews and posts, I decided to stop in Bar Jawn on Main Street and taste test some things. I ordered a side ceasar, their meatball egg rolls and a cheesesteak, which was served with these waffle-like fries. The food was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! Whoever the cook is, they better treat them like gold because it isn’t the ambiance that attracts you to this jawn! The food was seriously so yummy! The cheesesteak definitely rivals Angelo’s… Their meatball egg rolls were delish and served with a fantastic marinara. Hands down, probably one of the yummiest ceasar salads Ive ever had. Im going back to tonight for another caesar and to try some other menu items.

To steal a line from Infatuation, this is what the the BigMac wanted to be if it wasn’t hot garbage, to me no greater compliment. Bar Jawn joins Manayunk’s already insane food scene from the owners of the delicious Pizza Jawn offering a more upscale pub feel with an Italian flare but they are said to have Philly’s best smash burger so I needed to find out asap. AN elevated take on the BigMac already had peaked my interest but when I saw Cooper sharp as the cheese of choice, it was already set up for success. The twin patty burger is covered with melty layers of the aforementioned perfect cheese resting on a buttery seeded bun that features a very close to BigMac special sauce and locally sourced dill pickles that I couldn’t get enough of. No doubt this one lived up to the hype of best smash burger in the area and arguably overall as it was the perfect blend of local ingredients and area specifics with great seasoned fry chips in a cozy corner spot on Main Street with my favorite foodie icon over top the bar. If your feeling a killer foodventure no doubt this is a top tier spot for one of Philly’s best burgers offered up by the same guys that make one of the cities best pizzas, put this at the top of your hitlist🔥

Famous American Chef and Author, Anthony Bourdain talked about this restaurant and stated that the ‘name itself reflects the local flavor and character of Philadelphia’. The owners, Dave and Ana, have created elevated bar food with Italian inspiration. We ordered the Cheesesteak (of course), a smash burger, boneless wings and mozzarella triangles. The cheesesteak is seasoned chopped ribeye and cooper sharp. It is served in a homemade 9in seeded roll. The meat is well seasoned and the whole thing is what you want and expect a cheesesteak to be. I unfortunately didn’t get to try the smash burger but it looked huge and absolutely delicious. The boneless wings were tossed in a honey BBQ sauce. The wings were nicely coated and fried well. Obviously being from Wisconsin we judge our fried cheeses and this one was done right! Check out that cheese stretch! This is the jawn. One of the best things about Bar Jawn is the friendly and attentive service. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a staff member who asked how many of us and where we would like to sit. We were promptly seated and given menus. The owner, Dave, made his way over to greet us and chat for a bit. He also did that to all of the patrons, making everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Our waiter was quick to take our orders and bring our drinks, appetizers, and entrees. He also checked on us regularly and refilled our glasses without being asked. The service was impeccable and made our dining experience very enjoyable.

The food at Bar Jawn is amazing. The menu is full of creative twists on classic dishes, such as meatball egg rolls, cacio e pepe wings, and smash burgers. We ordered the Caesar salad, the meatball egg rolls, and the cacio e pepe wings for appetizers. They were all delicious and generous in size. The salad was crisp and fresh, the meatball egg rolls were crispy and savory and dipped in marinara , and the wings were crispy, baked and tender. For entrees, we had the cutlet with rigatoni a la vodka, the smash burger, and the meatball smash. The cutlet was tender and juicy, the rigatoni was creamy and flavorful, the burger was juicy and cheesy, and the meatball smash was hearty and satisfying. The food was so good and we can't wait to try more dishes from the menu.

Bar Jawn has a cozy and casual atmosphere that is perfect for a family dinner or a date night. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, and the staff is always smiling...

Bar Jawn is another iteration of a David Lee brain child nestled in the heart of Manayunk, Philadelphia. With a developing menu, appealing dining environment and supportive owner, this restaurant bar is a great up-and-coming spot to get some great Italian/American classics to enjoy enjoying alongside a loved one or a group of friends.

A recent experience with a dish I hold near and dear, lasagna…Bar Jawn’s deconstructed lasagna was absolutely lovely. As a lasagna lover, I thought I knew what to expect, but Bar Jawn's version took me by surprise. The moment it arrived, my eyes widened with excitement. The presentation alone was a work of art, but the layered flavors and time commitment to making the bolognese and béchamel sauce really set it over the top. It was just the right balance of tender and toothsome, making each mouthful an absolute pleasure. Then came the sauce - a heavenly blend of sun-kissed tomatoes and aromatic herbs that really helped peak the experience.

The pièce de résistance was the velvety béchamel sauce. It was pure indulgence, coating my palate with a luscious creaminess that left me wanting more. The combination of flavors was divine, each layer revealing a new facet of this Italian classic.

Among other menu items, this is my current favorite and with menu items, drinks and shared sides being added on a weekly basis, this makes Bar Jawn an excellent dinner/bar location in Manayunk if you are looking for a drink and a bite to eat surrounded by patrons looking to...
