Hotbox Yoga — Local services in Philadelphia

This is Deborah, not Oscar my son. His google account hijackes my computer. Hotbox is one of THE best places I've ever been to for hot yoga! The front desk staff were excellent and informative, and made for a smooth registration experience for a first time participant. The instructor was excellent! I had been searching for Larry ever since he left another facility during the pandemic, and as soon as I heard he was a hotbox, I signed up. He has high standards so I knew your place would have to live up to them. He's worth following and his guidance is always sublime. He is so challenging, and I need that in yoga (ex ballerina, current fitness instructor: barre, pilates, aquatics, zumba and a total type A who pushes herself). I also asked about the instructor training after I met two current participants, one in class and one observing the class, and they were also open and generous with their time and information. The location is perfect for me, since I live relatively close, and I hadn't found a studio I really "loved" even though I've been practicing yoga for 3 decades at various studios and even gyms I had access to like the YMCA, and JCC, as well as boutique studios. I wish I could give zero stars here but it's not an option.

For lack of better words, I am EXTREMELY angry regarding your business practices.

First of all, I try to call and your line goes straight to voicemail and leaves an option to either a) leave a voicemail b) email the email address provided or c) text the number provided. Well guess what? I have done all of the three items listed above multiple times and to no avail, have been unable to reach anyone or have an email or phone call returned.

Unfortunately, bank account information was tied to the monthly subscription, and subsequently, that bank account had to be cancelled. So guess what now? You aren't getting your payments in the future. Ever. For lack of better words again, you people are a bunch of inconsiderate scam artists who should have the business shut down as soon as possible for your behavior and horrible business practices.

You have already been reported to the better business bureau and your studio has a very bad review on their website as somewhere no one should go or trust with their hard earned money.

I can't say enough horrible things about this place. Do not go here, provide them with banking information and please warn...

I've been a competitive athlete for 10 years and I'm appalled at the HIIT class I just took. There is no benefit to running a high intensity class in a 98 degree room (yes, I looked at the wall thermometer) that's packed with 30 people. It will not improve your fitness. It will not build strength. It will not help your cardiovascular health. 22 burpees in a row at that temperature is doing nothing but making you sick.

Here is what it will do, though: -cause heat stroke -cause electrolyte imbalance -negatively impact form -make you feel like you are working harder than you actually are, which is a gimmick gyms use to make you think you are getting a good workout -cause injury

People threw up. People couldn't fully participate. And for what? The whole 15 minutes of actual work that we did that would have been better spent as 30 minutes of work at an appropriate temperature? It's a poorly thought out gimmick.

At best it's ineffective, and at worst...
