I have enjoyed living in Sherman Mills, more and more as the time has flown by.
In the beginning I was not so sure if I wanted to move here. I knew how much my husband loved the loft and artistic look, so I decided to go with it. I have lived in an apartment complex before, so I was kind of nervous to live in one, again.
I absolutely love this little community. All of the people I have met here are extremely friendly. There is a nice little dog park in the complex, where I take my dog everyday. He loves playing in the doggy pool in the summers! I normally am cautious with dog parks because they are overcrowded and the last one my dog was at he had a severe allergic reaction. However, this one is usually quiet with no more than 5 dogs at a time. I have established several friendships from taking my pup here.
Like many places. this apartment has had several leaks. It is an old factory so there are bound to be some mishaps, but I have dealt with way worse. The owner and maintenance staff have always made sure to take care of anything that I called for. However, the space is beautiful. Each apartment has its own special touch to it. Despite how large it is, our entire apartment heats up pretty quickly!
I will forever be grateful for the owner at Sherman Mills. I had an extremely scary experience when my dog collapsed from an allergic reaction. I ran to the parking lot holding my dog in my arms and was in a state of hysteria. The owner actually happened to be driving through at the same time and drove us to the emergency animal hospital. He was worried about my safety and did not want me to drive. It was during rush hour and it took us an hour to get to South Philly. He came in with me and help my pup for me while I was filling out paper work. He didn't want me to be alone and wanted to stay but I had assured him I would be okay. He had given me his number in case I needed a ride home or if there was another emergency. For his kindness and helping me out through this while my husband was away, I will...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible. After 4 years of loyal residency, we have endured an entire summer without air conditioning on a third floor apartment with temperatures reaching dangerous levels for our dog to the point we had to move him out. The problem was addressed very casually over the course of 4 months with little compensation. Frequent almost regular water outages or inconsistency. A regular mouse infestation which was never addressed aside from a few mouse traps that never worked. Upon leaving almost our entire security deposit was withheld for $500 worth of cleaning things like wiping down sinks and regular maintenance. Additionally we found out that we have been paying the bill for all the external hall lights outside of our apartment for two years. I do not suggest...
Read moreThis is the most MISMANAGED apartment complex I've ever had the unfortunate experience of living in. Frequent power outages and water shut offs for days. You try to call management and no answer. Constant infestations with mice, rats, cockroaches - you name it. All i can say is BEWARE. When they give you the tour its all roses and happy thoughts, then when you move in you're treated like an inconveneince. Basically its a deteriorating place where broken promises are born. I think the entire Sherman Mills Complex would be better served if they bulldozed it and turned it into an East Falls garden. Or even a parking lot. The Better Business Bureau is currently doing an investigation on this horrible place. It's a shame. All I can say is beware...
