Their lax phone policy allows people to record in class. I was new, only a few classes in, when a man recorded me and another woman on his phone during class. The instructor noticed him recording yet said nothing in the moment, so instead of speaking up to address it myself, I thought maybe it was permitted, he had been there for a while, he wasn’t actually recording me and the other woman, etc. At first it seemed like he was recording himself, but I noticed his body was never actually in the frame. He angled his phone so that my full body in tight clothing in different yoga positions was always visible. It also was not a full class, so he could have chosen a different spot if he genuinely wanted to film himself.
The other woman and I individually reported how uncomfortable this made us after class. The instructor later emailed me and an undisclosed recipient (who I assume was the other woman), saying while he did address the phone situation with him, he believed it was “unintentional”. Two women reported the same man recording them, yet they still excused his behavior. He spent most of the class fumbling around with the record button instead of practicing yoga.
When I requested a full refund, their initial reply never addressed the violating situation that caused me to leave. Instead, they offered me another discounted month. The alternative was to charge me for the few classes I attended, including the three free class promotion. I did eventually get my refund after a few email exchanges, but this can’t be undone. That man has a video of my body on his phone forever. This is not...
Read moreAfter going to a traditional yoga studio (non-heated) for many years, I was hesitant to get back into a heated studio because I felt they often neglected the spiritual side of yoga in favor of focusing solely on the "work out." I've been so pleasantly surprised to find that the Power Flow classes at Yoga Box strike a really nice balance between a challenging work out, and the more meditative/spiritual side of the practice. I've been attending classes between both Phoenix studios for about a month now and have yet to have an instructor whose class I didn't genuinely enjoy! They have all been knowledgeable and welcoming, and I appreciate the diversity between their styles and the way they lead the class. It's also worth noting that the classes are heated, but not as extreme as some of the studios out there! I'd definitely recommend Yoga Box to anyone who is looking for a balanced...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this studio for a few months now, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots for both hot yoga. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and motivating — they each bring their own style and energy, which keeps the classes fresh and engaging. The hot yoga classes are the perfect balance of challenging and grounding.
The studio itself is clean, well-maintained, although it can get very hectic during peak hours. I especially appreciate the variety of class times throughout the day and recommend going outside of peak hours.
Only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that some of the classes can get really packed during peak hours, and it can feel a bit cramped. Nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to yoga places.
Overall, highly recommend for anyone looking to sweat, strengthen, and reset in a supportive and energized...
