Came in one day to sell my antique Pittsburgh auto club hood ornament from the 1930s or 1940s. They acted uninterested, I only asked $15 for it. They waited on a customer while I waited to see if they would buy it. While waiting, I overheard an old guy ask them how much for the hood ornament I had brought in (it was sitting on the counter). They told him they had to see, and to wait a minute (I guess they didn’t think I had heard this). Then suddenly they came and told me they would buy it off me for $15. Maybe I should have refused then, I just don’t have the heart for that kind of haggling. It seemed very dishonest. I assume they got at least a few times what they paid me, made a good profit off my inoffensiveness (now I’ll just sell online, upon further research this particular antique sells for closer to $100.). I’m not a bad person or I would have just walked up to the guy and cut a deal with him right there. I’m not that type though, so now I avoid this store. Some interesting items but not too honest and left me feeling taken advantage of and too...
Read moreThey are open everyday and their hours are the same each day and not like other antique shops I researched. They have EVERYTHING you can think of! I’m from Texas and we were in aww by the quantity of antiques in this shop. I was looking for a camera and found one when I was about to walk out. The owners had just bought it from a walk in and she was willing to sale and price it within 3 mins of asking. She priced it lower then what she found in her research. I’m happy with my purchase and will def be back when I come up next year! LASTLY the prices of items are very good compared to where I’m from. You will def be able to walk away with a few things! My only regret is not driving up to PA so I could load up the trunk with an Hermes typewriter (baby blue) and an awesome...
Read moreA beautifully curated and excellently staged antique super store! Absolutely fascinating finds and everything is tagged with a description and a price and an age and a vendor’s identification. I went to their Halloween celebration Friday night and returned again on Saturday to purchase the perfect lamp for my redone Victorian style bedroom that kept calling me in my dreams! They even honored the holiday Halloween 15% discount offered during the event. Everyone that you talk to when you call the store or visit the store is very friendly helpful and interested in you and your purchases. I highly remember recommend this store. Of all the Pittsburgh and North Hills areas antique stores I’ve visited, this is, by far the best. Follow Wexford General Store Antiques...
