3 stars is generous for the experience I had, but I’m willing to go back on a less busy day and order something else. First off, I ordered a mango coronarita. I was brought a regular Lime margarita which I happily drank because it was amazing despite not being what I ordered. For my meal I ordered 2 ala carte bean burritos that was on a Tuesday special for $3.99 each, a side of refried beans, and a side of tomatillo sauce. After waiting at least an hour to get our food I was given beef burritos and nothing else I ordered. I would have just ate it if it was any other meat but I am not a big fan of red meat. After a while I did receive my bean burritos but they were pathetic. Two store bought room temperate tortillas filled with a little beans and cheese over the top. I was less than thrilled with the burritos 0 stars for them alone. Finally when the checks came they were all wrong. I was charged the wrong drink and the wrong burrito, I knew the burrito I was served was not worth $17.99. After speaking with the waitress, the checks were fixed except I got a $2 random charge for lime in my margarita when I did not order lime I ordered mango and I thought lime was the base of a regular margarita?? I would have complained at that as well but it would have taken another 1/2 hour to get my check back again so I just paid it. Maybe I just came in on a bad day, but the service wasn’t great and the food was very...
Read morePleasantly surprised! I didn't expect much from a chain restaurant. This turned out to be a great Mexican food experience. Came here just before our grocery run, we were famished and it's never a good idea to food shop hungry! Service started with the ever essential complimentary bowl of chips and salsa . Salsa was a little underwhelming :( Then, I ordered something I have never seen in a Pittsburgh mexican restaurnt menu before- gorditas! Best decision ever. The gorditas were hot and fresh and filled with perfectly seasoned pork, onions and cilantro. It came with it's own side of refried beans (a little bland) and rice and the most satisfyingly spicy habenero sauce. Hubs had a burrito and was just as happy. Refreshing Mexican light beers went famously with the meal. I have to mention the amazing service and atmosphere, which made our experience that much better. More stuffing in my Gorditas, a better salsa and refried beans would have definately gotten Patron that extra star. I will, most definately be back. I'm on insta as - thatcurrysmell if you fancy a look into my gluttonous...
Read moreAs with most of us I love me some Mexican food, so I have eaten at TONS of mexican restaurants, which gives me a lot to compare to when I try a new one.
End of the day this is pretty average. Nothing terrible but nothing incredible either. It's the standards that an Americanized Mexican restaurant is supposed to have. I did like the menu better than some others. I hate the places that are nothing but "wet" entrees smothered in red and green generic sauces. This place offers some menu features that are a bit more unique. I found the menu comparable to Emiliano's in that regard.
The day we went was Mother's Day so take that into perspective. We arrived pretty early so we were one of the first tables. For whatever reason, though, the food took almost 45 minutes to arrive. They apologized, but clearly something happened with our order.
I enjoyed my food and our server was very good. There are so many options for this style of food, though, that I'm not sure this would be my first choice. There are better options even...
