Belk is not the store it used to be. After it was sold to the holding company Sycamore Partners it went to hell and is going the way of Macys. Just because you have the money to buy a company does not mean you are out of your depth and do not know what youv are doing. The first dumb thing they did was to close their customer service department and then do away with gift wrapping department. Same dumb thing Macys did and Macys is a ghost town now. Senior citizens and people you really could not afford to shop at Belks still did because of that free gift wrapping service. Now you do not see senior citizens in there anymore or rarely if at all. Belks iswd to sell top of the line merchandise but many if not all of them are gone for cheaper lower quality clothing that tries to mimic better brands but is far interior all to make more money. Which is not working for them or Macy's. There are far fewer employees and you have to go search to find one. If you ask an employee who got to keep their job and was there before they were sold they will tell you it is as different as night and day and their business is way off. Many of the newer cheaply paid employees are unfriendly and no nothing of customer service. Even their credit card company is terrible. You use the jewelry plan which is 12 months of equal payments and they can not and will do it correctly. I bought a 1200 dollar watch at months same as cash supposed to be 100 a month for 12 months. Payment was 176 dollars nott 100 called 5 times made a payment of 250 dollars next month the payment was 176 again called 5 more times even they said the have no idea why. They can not do math. Now there was no possibility I wanted to pay for anything for months. But I wanted the option of only paying 100 dollars a month becuase that is their own plan 12 equal payments. They lost alot of business from me alone because they are inept. I collect watches and buy 2 or 3 a year at least and spend 5 grand a year or more. Their loss. I give most of my clothing business to Dillards. Watches are bought from jewelry stores. Belks many many weekly coupon sales are only on their cheap store brands they they try and sell as premium. Sycamore group must have hired the failed ex Macys management and their failed policies along with them. Wow they are dumb. Shop at Dillards you will be much happier an can find quality brands. Dillards sales are the last Thursday thru Saturday if almost every month and are on name brands and their store brands. By the way Dillards store brands are vastly superior to...
Read moreI went in to Belk today to try and find a new bra; I knew I needed help being fitted and I wanted some advice. I had been told that Belk normally had a good selection of larger sizes, so I gave them a try. First off, it's October 18th, and the entire store is decorated for Christmas. That brought the appeal way down for me. Then, my husband and I spent almost ten minutes trying to find a sign or an associate to help us figure out where we needed to be. Frustrating. When I finally got to the intimates section, I tried to describe to the associate what I was looking for, and how my current bra was fitting, and she measured me and told me what she thought and then steered me to something that was totally opposite of what I told her I wanted. I tried it, though, to see if it would work. It didn't, I hated it. I told her what I didn't like, and asked if they had what I was looking for. She told me that the kind of bra I like and am comfortable in is bad, and that the one she picked was much better. Except I didn't like the way that felt or the way it looked! I felt like she thought I was stupid. I also asked if she had one in white, which is what I wanted, and she said "We don't sell white." To which I asked, "You don't have a single white bra in this store?" and she responded with, "No. Nobody wants white." Um... I wanted white. I really felt like I was talked to like an ignorant child. I tried to be nice, and eventually she apparently got bored with me, because when I came out of the dressing room she was nowhere to be found and I had to ask the associate behind the counter to take the bras I wasn't going to buy.
All in all, though they might have a decent selection and the prices were good, I was so frustrated with the lack of service and the way I was treated that I left. I then tried Victoria's Secret, where the associate was cheerful and very helpful, and let me know that Cacique would have a better selection for me. I went there and found EXACTLY what I wanted, the associates were wonderful, and they listened to me and I was able to get two better quality bras for the same price as the one at Belk. I won't be trying there again--not for...
Read moreI always have a bad experience with returns at this location and South Park mall. None of the employees are friendly or helpful. Today I went in to return an item I bought online accidently not realizing it wasn’t what I needed and didn’t even open the packaging it came in. I printed out the return paper and it said I had until October 16th (today is the 12th) to return it to any Belk location in person. First the woman just stared at me and asked me to open the package and I asked her twice for scissors or something to open it. Then she scanned my paper and said it was past the 30 day window and couldn’t give me a full refund on my card but could offer a store credit. No I want my money refunded. Then the manager came and I pulled up my email with the information and they don’t even look at it and said the exact same thing I can get store credit or a gift card. Why would I want that when I have this $107 charge on my credit card already when I want it refunded and give them this item back. She said they couldn’t do anything else and I’d have to talk to someone else with customer service for Belk. Makes no sense. Why tell me online I can bring it anywhere with this amount of time and only be told in the store they can’t accept it. This isn’t my first time with issues doing returns at Belk stores. Don’t think I’ll be giving them my money again anytime soon. Such a disappointment and waste of time. Also zero customer...
