Uptown Cheapskate Pineville — Local services in Pineville

I don’t even know where to begin.. you walk in the door and the first thing you notice is the store is TRASHED. I try to look through all rubble and can’t help but be so distracted by all the teenage talk at the front counter. Laughing obnoxiously, cell phones, inappropriate conversations. I’m all for having fun at work but there was too much to be done in that store for them to be having so much fun. Hangers covering the counter, I could barely fit my items I wanted to purchase on the counter, so many items in the wrong spot, so many clothes off the hanger on the floor, so many clothes half on the hanger. It’s unacceptable. Platos closet right down the street has a store about 3 times bigger and it’s organized and clean. The lady who cashed me out was sitting prior to cashing me out, WHY ARE YOU SITTING WHEN THERE IS SO MUCH TO BE DONE??????? The teenagers you have hired obviously haven’t worked hard a day in their life and it’s not about to start at Uptown Cheapskate. Also are you the owners of Once Upon A Child as well? Because that store is in the exact same condition. By far the worst OUAC I’ve been to.

I worked at Platos closet I understand the whole store getting busy with buys and it can get hectic. I get that 100%, that’s why I think it’s completely unacceptable for an employee to have chairs set up behind the counter to relax in between cashing people out when there are a THOUSAND things to be done in that store. And cell phone? We were not allowed to have them on us and I can see why. So much to be done in that store, it’s a complete mess, unorganized and your staff is using your money to sit around and be lazy. Better staff and a cleaner store would make a lot of people come back and shop there more, just saying. On that note, Platos in Pineville is wonderful and clean and that’s who will be getting...

I love this shop! I actually look forward to coming here. Great selection of very cute, like- new clothing and shoes. You can tell they’re very selective on what they’ll put out.

Store is very neat and organized. The racks are separated in a way that’s not overwhelming to find sizes or different styles and in my opinion the prices are spot on or better, most of the time! I’d say the prices ranges from excitingly cheap, to—just a rough estimate by me—about 25% below retail (that’s still a deal though!). And again, this was my observation so it might be way off…and obviously I’m not privy every retail price anyway. 😅

The 2nd best (only to the extensive inventory of cute stuff) thing about this store is the staff. Everyone there, every time we come in, has always been so sweet, so helpful and so easygoing. It’s like you kinda feel like you could hang out with any of them or something, bc they’re genuinely friendly & very chill people who actually know how to smile at customers and be helpful and kind. I really realized this yesterday while I was there, and then I recollected that all of my past visits were the same as far as customer service. And honestly that is so rare that it’s sad, but that’s also why they always stand out to me in that regard.

Anyway, sorry for the long winded review, but I felt it was due. This location has become one of my favorite places to shop for myself and my teenage daughter. I kinda wish they had a rewards program or something but I figure that we’re already getting pretty killer deals most of the time, so that’s no big deal, imo.

If you are a man it’s pointless to come to this location, it’s a hit and miss like any other consignment store but more misses definitely. They seem to accept lower quality clothing compared to other locations in the Charlotte area, at least for men’s clothing, but a large selection of decent and better quality Women’s clothing. Uninterested staff, won’t even acknowledge customers unless you’re about to check out and spend some money. teenage/young adults so what do you expect anyway. Do yourself a favor and check out the University and Huntersville locations. Trust me you’ll never come back to this one once you go to those 😎

Had several items I wanted to buy in my hands but just ended up putting them back and leaving because your employees were being so slow and rude to other customers, talking about what they saw on facebook or instagram instead of checking customers out.
