I wanted to share my recent experience at Thai House in Pineville, NC. I have never been to this particular Thai restaurant, although I have been to others in the Charlotte area. One member of our group of five (one being a child) had been to this particular restaurant on several prior occasions with excellent experiences. Let me preface this review by indicating that the food was excellent. It was very good and had the rest of our experience been as good as the food, this would be a 5-star review. We walked in around 8:15 pm and noticed it was somewhat busy. We stood at the cramped entranceway/cashier area while a few people were paying at the register. No one really greeted us or asked us to wait or anything. We waited for several minutes before anyone acknowledged us at all. Finally a hostess/waitress asked us how many in our party and we responded. She indicated that a table was being cleaned and we could have that table. We were seated promptly after that. No biggie. We were seated and we waited a little longer than is typical for our drink order to be taken. Looking around, most tables around us were filled. We waited a bit longer for drinks to finally arrive. The drink order was a little incomplete as one of our party had requested a Diet Coke and a water (she is pregnant) and did not receive the water. The waitress stopped by to tell us she would be back in a few to take our order. We asked if there was kid’s menu. They do not. That is a little annoying when restaurants don’t have any specific options or small plates that they do for children. They know that there will be kids under 12 in the restaurant and should have some small menu (doesn’t have to be chicken fingers or hamburgers…but small plates of simple versions of the food they already serve). But not a deal breaker. She came back and took our order, a few minutes longer than we would typically wait. We ordered a couple of soups and appetizers as well as our main meal. We then proceeded to wait for over 40 minutes for our food. We got to the point, around the 30-minute mark, where one of our party actually walked towards the kitchen to ask if we were ever getting any food…appetizers, soup at least! We ordered at 8:35 pm and still had nothing to eat at 9:05! The response from our waitress was “yes, food is coming”. Waited another 5-7 minutes and nothing…food kept coming out of the kitchen, one plate at a time, to other tables, but nothing for us. Not even soup! Finally, another waiter came running over, from another table with a plate of spring rolls. He said, these were made in error for another table, please take these on the house! (We had literally begun to stand up to leave.) We were so hungry (we did have a child and a pregnant woman with us) that we couldn’t turn down any food that might come near us at that point! We devoured the spring rolls…while STILL not receiving even the soup or appetizers that we ordered. Finally at around 9:20 the soup and appetizers arrived. Then about 10+ minutes later, the remaining food arrived. We were given a desert on the house, but they really didn’t seem overly concerned that we waited so long. It was almost like we were on a hidden camera show. No updates, or manager came over at any point…just sitting there waiting. We don’t know what happened in the kitchen with our order. If something happened, come and tell us. Offer us something! They weren’t so busy that people were waiting for tables. Most tables were full, but no one else seemed like they were sitting and waiting like we were. Maybe they had an off night, or WE were the off table for the night…not sure, but it will likely be awhile before I try them again. I’ll go to the other Thai restaurant, up the road, where I have never had a bad or...

Read moreI gave it a star because it won't allow me to give NO stars! First and foremost, I went to the one in the University area and loved everything there! I read the reviews upon coming here and thought it won't be as bad but my experience here was HORRIBLE! I will not go back there even if they were giving out free food. (During their lunch) I went with my boyfriend, we're an interracial couple. The hostess sat us down and I ordered a sweet tea, I know how sweet tea is supposed to taste; the color was off, the taste tasted exactly like brewed Asian bitter tea mixed like a possibility a drop of sugar, I thought they gave me a UNsweet tea. They only came around to order, give me the rice soup, a refill (which they didn't notice until I placed my empty cup on the edge of the table), and the check. They sure DID NOT ask how was the food. I know Asian food, I ordered the Pad Thai and my boyfriend ordered the Red Curry; the Pad Thai was sweet and was ordered "mild," David, the previous reviewer was right! It was SWEET! I asked how was the Pad Thai made and at first, he couldn't tell me and then turns out I ordered the "American Style" Pad Thai, not the Thai Style! The Red Curry, the first little spoonful of it, I tried, automatically, I knew there was way TOO many spices in just one little serving of the Red Curry. I could tell by the way the people working there would come around every minute to this first-timer guy in front of me. The treatment here is SO unacceptable. I had paid with a Groupon and I had to pay tax! This was the first place, matter of fact, restaurant that made me paid tax, that my Groupon could've paid in full.
I RECOMMEND GOING TO "WILD EAST PAN-ASIAN BISTRO," down the street. That's where I went after storming out of the place. Now, Wild East Pan-Asian Bistro, had EXCELLENT service, food, atmosphere, value, curry, decor, and...
