After being to this restaurant multiple times previously and having a good experience, I had the worst experience this morning at Park 51 Cafe. I ordered a VEGETARIAN omelette from the waitress and she brought a MEDITERRANEAN omelette out. After taking a bite out of it and realizing that it had meat in it (I'm a vegetarian) I called the waitress back over and she apologized and brought out my correct order. I told her I then wanted to speak to the manager.
The manager came out and I explained very nicely what happened and said that I should not have to pay for this omelette as it was an error made by the waitress and meat can make me physically sick and I had consumed some of it. He then retorted "she brought you another omelette didn't she?" in a rude manner. When I responded back to him once again that it didn't matter that she brought the right omelette out, but that it was the principle of the matter he cut me off and said that he "didn't understand why I wanted to be comped for the omelette". I wasn't asking for the whole meal to be compensated for, just the omelette. Then after cutting my boyfriend and myself off multiple times after that he said "well I don't really understand but I'll take the omelette off your bill" like he was doing the hardest thing ever.
I will never return to this restaurant again after we were treated this way.
Edit:
After the manager's response obviously you can see blatantly see the rudeness we experienced from them. My issue was not with the waitress messing up - it was with the response that we received from the manager of the restaurant. How disrespectful to...
Read moreToday, I ordered a breakfast burrito with eggs, ham, bell peppers, and cheddar cheese, along with a side of home fries, grits with American cheese, and white toast.
Starting with the burrito—unfortunately, it lacked flavor. The eggs were completely unseasoned, and overall, the taste just wasn’t enjoyable. The vegetables weren’t cooked down to a texture I prefer, which made the experience even less appealing. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate it a 3/10. With better seasoning and additional ingredients, it could have been much more enjoyable.
The grits were undercooked and way too watery, almost soupy. I prefer thick grits, and these did not meet that expectation. As for the home fries, they also lacked flavor. While they had a decent skin, they weren’t crispy, which was disappointing. I’d give them a 3/10 as well.
Overall, this meal was a 3/10 for me. I appreciate that my order was correct, including my drink, and the white toast was good with some butter. However, I wouldn’t order the breakfast burrito again. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t give the restaurant another chance, but this particular meal missed the mark. If you’re someone who prefers little to no seasoning, you might enjoy it—but for me, it...
Read moreMy friend and I went to Park 51 today. It was not a good experience. My friend got beef tips, which she told me was terrible. I ordered cheese ravioli, which was also pretty bad. I didn't think you could mess up ravioli, but the pasta was very gummy and had kind of a raw flour taste. It really was awful, so I opened up the ravioli and just ate a little of the cheese filling. I was going to get a side salad with it, but they refused to exchange the spring mix with iceberg even though I was told they had iceberg. My friend also said she preferred iceberg lettuce, but they refused to accommodate us on something as small as a side salad. I got the lentil soup instead, but didn't eat much because it tasted canned. Overall, our lunch was extremely disappointing, and we decided we will never return to Park 51, but will go to Park Place instead where the food is...
