On 6/30/19 around 545PM I was checking out at petco when I overheard one of the workers (an older man, bald, with a beard and glasses) talking to a customer about service dogs. When I was being checked out I asked if he was talking to the other customers about service dogs because I have one in training with me and would be happy to answer questions. The worker went on to say that due to the stigma against pit bulls, he should tell his landlord that the dog was a service dog to get around breed restrictions because no one can question if it is a service dog. I calmly tried to inform him that not only is it illegal to fake a service dog but according to the ADA there are two questions an establishment is legally allowed to ask: 1. if it is a service dog task trained to mitigate a disability and if the dog user answers yes 2. What tasks it’s trained to perform. I also said not only is that illegal but it is an insult to the level of training that service dogs go through to become service dogs. He was fighting with me and telling them to lie about their dog since it’s going through a Petco class, which of course is not nearly up to par with the approximate 2 years of training a service dog goes through. He brought up ESAs which is very different from a service animal alone also saying they can lie for that. He was then saying he worked in security for years and that it was okay, which is also false because I work for public safety as well. I stopped the transaction and was trying to educate them on how it is wrong and illegal to fake a service animal since it is taking advantage of people with disabilities and he just walked away from me mumbling something. He was being completely rude and disgusting to me, especially considering he was advising people to do illegal things after I was educating him. Of course, I didn’t buy my dog food and I will never, ever be back if that kind of misinformation is spread at this kind of location where lots of uneducated dog owners...
Read moreI have had the WORST experience with my dog today with his grooming. I had an appointment made a week ago for a bath, haircut and everything included in the package. As soon as I got there to leave my dog for his appointment, the Manager was very rude and was screaming to the employees and even to me. When we looked inside the store, it seemed like they were very busy but there was no reason to scream at everyone. We all deserve a little respect. They received my dog and told me the price, and I left. After 4 hours my wife called them to see how my dog was doing and if I could pick him up (because that is usually hold long it takes). The Manager answered the phone, and again began yelling at her, and told her how there wasn’t enough time for my dogs hair cut and that I should pick him to bring him another day. I find it very unprofessional of them, they have experience with dogs and I’ve never had this problem with any other PetSmart or Petco. What bothered me the most, as a customer, was her attitude towards me in person and on the phone with my wife. I was very paranoid and nervous so without hesitation I went to pick up my dog. He was wet when I picked him up as well. They never dried his fur, of course they also didn’t do the cut or even trimmed his nails too.. I believe anyone of this department, when treating animals, should always have patience for whatever situation. . I found it very offensive for them to tel me that my 1 year old dog couldn’t get his fur dried because he was nervous. Again, they have experience with young and older dogs, they should know how to handle that. Why would we make an appointment with a lot of time to get treatment like this?
I wanted to share my experience today but I was very unsatisfied. Either way, I paid for the service they had...

I have worst worst experience with one of your grommer, her name is Tena. She grommed my dog for the first time otherwise we always have best experiences with Sarah.
What Tena did to my dog was beyond the humanity, she cuts my dog ears yes both ears with bare trimmer. She kept him for 8hours and guess what I went to her twice asking her is my dog ready!! She kept saying touch up is needed. At the time of closing she called me and asked me to pay and gave my dog and I didn’t got time to check him. As she asked me to hurry up because it was the closing time. My dog who never ever cry he literally cried whole time until we reach home and i was checking him and cuddling him and GUESS WHAT there was a bloody CUTs on my dog ear, not one ear the cuts was on both the ears . And I was shocked panicked because it never happened ever ever. She didn’t tell me what happened or she didn’t show me curtsy to say sorry or she didn’t even put any medicine on my dog ears. Mind you it not a just a cut whole ears because my dog ears are long and flappy so inside the ears . I am so so in shocked more than me my dog. He is being very quite and silent. HER Name is TENA. No one can trust on you Petco because you guys hired her. I am going to post this whole story on social media with my dog ears photos.
