This is the closest Indian grocery store in Piscataway and so due to convenience many people go here. I am sure the owner is aware of this as the price gouging done here is ridiculous. The store is often dirty and unkempt, prices are either exorbitantly high as compared to the quality of product and amount, or there are no prices listed. Items that do not have a price have to be taken to the register to check and the cashier will make up a price and manually enter it in- these prices tend to vary based on cashier and whatever they want to say. Recently I bought fireworks for Diwali and ended up not using them- not opening the box nor damaging it in any way. I called 5 days later to the store asking if I could return it and was told they do not accept fireworks for return. I asked what their return policy was for the store and the woman who picked up did not know. I asked what else is not returnable, she said atta, fireworks, and incense after consulting with an associate for a long time. I asked again what the return policy timeline is, how many days specifically can I return an item in, and she did not answer. I asked to speak to the manager/owner to which I was told initially many times I could not as he was not there. Eventually a second associate told me a man named "Tino," is the owner and will call me back the next day, which he never did- it is now 3 days later. As per US law, return policies must be conspicuously posted in the store or on receipts, which Subzi Mandi illegally does not follow. There is no policy on their receipts nor any sign in their store. They create prices as they wish and decide what they will accept or not accept in returns all based on a whim. It is extremely unprofessional with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis store is small but has sufficient amount of grocery products. I always prefers this store as it is near to my place.
I am writing this review because Today I bought a Bedekar lemon pickle which is listed for $2.49 but when I went to counter they charged it for $3.49. That time I was also not sure as I bought lot of stuff so forget the actual price and paid for it. But when checked again there it mentioned for $2.49 only. When I asked they didnāt listen to me as I already paid for that so they tried to explain me that those are old price which doesnāt make sense as it clearly written that it is for $2.49. I went out as it is just a dollar issue. But then my wife told me it happened last time as well that we bought one daal which is 500g and it had price sticker of 1kg which is almost double. Also she said last time we bought one product which was expired.
These people do this kind of mess, so my suggestion is to always check price and expiry date properly while buying anything...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePoor customer service. They have a min requirement of 10$ on credit card which i understand however my bill was 8.79$ and they refused to accept cc. So i bought something for additional dollar and the total was 9.79. They still insisted that since i was 21 cents short of 10$ min requirement i should pay by cash. I had to tell them i dont have cash and will not be able to buy it. They said thats fine u can leave the stuff u are trying to buy but we cannot let use a credit card. I found it extremely poor customer service. There are other indian stores within a mile which accept cc with no min requirement. You are free to shop for 20 cents n they still accept cc One other experience was they put a sticker on the expiry date after the product has expired or try to wipe the expiry date off. I spoke to the guy at the counter about this and he said its the supplier who does that and not our store so we are not responsible. Please be aware of this, always check expiry date on the...
