MUST TRY!!!! I did a takeout order at Qaswa BBQ & Grill. I ordered the House Special Platter (Serves 4).
On the phone I spoke with a representative and he was very kind. He provided quality service. When we got there it had amazing decor and the staff were extremely kind.
The food was amazing. Knowing there's a lot of competition for the area for Mediterranean food this was certainly at the top of the competition. The meat was tender and the rice was cooked to perfection. All of these give it 5 stars.
One reason I give it a 4 is due to expectations and reality fact. Comparing it to other Mediterranean locations, I can say that I should be expecting more of the white/yoghurt sauce and hot sauce. For a platter of that size we were struggling to ration out the sauce. We should be in excess after the meal. I would say for a meal that size there should be 2 full containers of the white sauce and 1 full container of the spicy sauce. Both sauces are absolutely amazing.
The food portion is enough to feed 4 at a level where you aren't exactly full, but you still have room in the stomach. I would suggest there should be a bit more food for the price given. However, comparatively the price is very reasonable and competitive. I would suggest more rice and a bit more meat. However, the quality is excellent!
Nonetheless, please do not stray from this restaurant due to a 4 star. This is an absolutely amazing restaurant. I am sure that the dining experience would be very unique due to the fact you sit in a Turkish style seating. I am giving recommendations that would have pushed me to give 5 stars.
This is a must eat!!! They are starting out and they will be prosperous as long as they reflect on everyone's reviews!
I will be recommending this to family, friends, and fellow Rutgers students! Enjoy!

Read moreWe went here for lunch on a weekday. There was just one other table occupied.. Place is well maintained.. Decor was fine Upon checking the menu we were a bit shocked on the pricing of food.. did not seem like a fine Dining place... but we settled down and thought maybe the food is really good and hence the pricing.. Host came by and asked us what we wanted for a drink and we said we wanted plain water... none of us ever mentioned Bottled water. Host comes by in a bit and gives us 4 bottles of water.. We thought that is the water they serve by default.. Then comes the food and was good.. tasty and all.. We finished our lunch and my colleague asked for the bill while we stepped out for a smoke Colleague paid the bill and then started wondering why it was so much because the host took the credit card even before we saw the bill. We were charged for water $2 a bottle which was not mentioned to us by the Host and then there was a transaction fee for the Credit card charge which is a basic cost to doing business in this age and time or there should be a mention of the charge upfront so we can pay in cash. All said and done when asked for review by the host we mentioned the food was good and we were willing to come back and also advertise (Word of Mouth) being polite and all after paying the bill we mentioned to the host that these hidden costs should be laid out to the customer upfront and should not leave the customer with a bad after taste from the experience. But the host was not ready to take the negative comment. Gist of the story being a business man myself is do not loose customers on small change. Suggestion is being upfront with customers and not hit them up with hidden costs while your menu is so expensive. We were planning on going back but cannot do that knowing their business...
Read moreMy husband and I were in town for a conference and wanted to eat at a local establishment. Thank goodness we discovered Qaswa! Don’t let the exterior of the small strip mall fool you… This place is a hidden gem! We enjoyed it so much on a Thursday night that we went back again on Saturday night with our friends, the Mayor of Piscataway and his wife. The food and service are outstanding. Everything that we ate, including a variety of appetizers, along with our entrées were prepared and spiced perfectly and cooked to order. Their hummus and homemade bread is outstanding, along with their special garlic dip. You don’t want to miss the chicken chops that were so incredibly tender and delicious. The portions are very large, and I promise that you will not leave disappointed. The owners are three brothers that are incredibly friendly, and want to make sure that your dining experience is special. You can choose to sit at a regular table or in true Turkish fashion, around a low table that is surrounded by cushions...
