I write this as I currently wait for a game I bought there to install. Why not take the time to write what I think? Ashley and Simone are always very helpful as well as the other staff! I have traded in things from games to figurines to collectors editions and controllers and they have always given me a good deal. In turn, I have used cash and credit to buy merchandise from top shelf art statues to framed posters and used games. Staff is always knowledgeable and willing to help. If something isn't in stock, they will have it transfered from another one of their stores and you'll get a text or a call when it comes in. Such a huge selection and so much to look at. In many ways, the shelves seem endless.
This is a dream place to shop because you'll never know what you'll come across next. Is my game done installing yet? Okay no, not yet. Let's see....
Interactions are more personable than corporate by far. For example, an employee here remembered that I was attacked at a sandwich shop by a crazy lady and she noticed that I had switched restaurants. ๐
So I brought up the amazing McDonald's blueberry pies ๐คค
Actually you know what this store reminds me of? Animal Crossing. You know how you find things in the game and you donate them to the museum? Then you see them on display the next time you come in as you look around. That's how I feel about things that I've sold to The Exchange. They are now beautifully on display for someone else to home them some day and I got credit for them. ๐๐
It's hard not to show up here regularly when there is so much to choose from.
Now I'm gonna watch YouTube while the game finishes installing an update. Thanks...
ย ย ย Read moreI am a regular Exchange customer, and I want to express my sincere dissatisfaction with this chain in general. Recently, my girlfriend's apartment was broken into and her room mate's XBOX One was stolen. Despite filing a police report and having the serial number, the Oakland store employees were extremely uncooperative, and, despite just wanting them to check to see if they had it downstairs on hold, they couldn't even be bothered to walk up and down a flight of stairs. They disparaged me and shot me down, saying they would only check if the police called and gave them the serial number. If they did indeed have it, the message this sends to me and other customers is that they are completely content with reselling stolen goods. When a store has such an intense policy with recovering stolen goods, you know it must happen a lot. I would not recommend this chain to anyone, and ESPECIALLY not the Oakland location unless you want to be disparaged by the staff. 1/5 but I'd give even less than...
ย ย ย Read moreThe Exchange is a business I have been acquainted with since my formative childhood years, so some nostalgia is definitely there for me. I bought some of my first CDs and video games here. They certainly seem to have grown tremendously over the years, and albeit this is a sentimental place for me to shop, I would be doing a personal disservice to anyone reading this review if I didn't share my criticisms of this establishment as well, Firstly, let me say that I do like the way their stores are structured, and you can truly find a rare gem here for a modest price on occasion, but their prices can also be unreasonably inflated for a pawn shop, especially their used goods. Shop carefully here, and always price match online if you are unsure, (see eBay). You never know though, depending on what you're after, you may yet still find a good deal at...
