When I was a student at UM, this Kroger was the store of my choice. I moved away after graduation and only recently returned to the area a month ago. So, I decided to try Kroger again. I was really disappointed by the overall unfriendly atmosphere in the store.
I arrived around 7:03am this past Saturday (2/20/21). The store was clean and there were just a few customers in the store. Some of the food sections were unfamiliar to me. While shopping I passed nine employees in different part of the store. Not a single employee asked me if I need assistance or even said, "Good morning."
In the frozen dessert section, the employee was in such a rush to greet a customer she knew, she ran past me. Then as an afterthought, she said good morning to my back, as I walked away.
I entered the self check out lane and proceeded to ring up my food. As I headed for the exit, I noticed the cashier was now standing in the center of the isle saying good bye to certain customers and other customers he said nothing but, eyed their carts with suspicion. It was so obvious he was checking to see if anyone was stealing. I felt sorry for the man and his small son who were exiting the store because they were subjected to such rude, non-verbal behavior. The employee even tilted his head for a clearer view of the bottom of the customer's cart.
So what distinguished the first two customers from the last two customers to exit the store with me? The first two where caucasian males. The next two customers were african american. Go figure?
Some of your employees need diversity training and others need basic customer service training. I will never shop at this...
Read moreOn the larger side for a Krogerâs, If you were looking for more affordable, bulk large family shopping, the Carpenter location is a good option. As far as Krogerâs go, they tend to have the best selection, and generally speaking, they have the best deals in the area, at least in my opinion.
(itâs also across from an Aldiâs. So that is even more options to stop and get some bulk stuff for cheap! TBH, I still tend to stick with Krogerâs because I know where everything is and itâs reliably there. But itâs cool to have two options in the same location.)
Now the the section for gift cards and floral arrangements here is not very big. But you can always go to the Arborland location for that. They are very good location for smaller or older families with like a lot of health food and things like that. I donât tend to shop there, but there are specific things that I will go there for from time to time.
My only critique, it said it could be a bit cleaner. But I do understand that the employees work their butts off and management could probably hire a few more people to help them out. The employees are kind though, and generally helpful. The only times theyâve ever seemed less than friendly was when they were obviously very stressed and even then they were polite. (TBH this was when they were understaffed a while back to things have generally been good as of late.)
I do want to add that Krogerâs in general are very good at marking gluten-free items which is awesome.
They are also very WIC friendly. This location is better than some. FWIW the best location for using WIC is actually the one off Michigan Ave. But it is also a...
Read moreMonique, the cashier in the self check-out lane provided great customer service on Friday October 14, 2022.
I needed to buy my 6 yr old daughter lunch for school. I forgot my wallet so I attempted to use Apple Pay.
Monique was proactive in assisting me. She came over to me with a friendly attitude, smile and laughter.
Moniqueâs enthusiasm was contagious. With clear communication and patience she explained to me Krogers does not accept Apple Pay.
I was frustrated and stressed because I needed to bring my daughter lunch within 30 minutes. I took a deep breath, explain my situation and asked Monique to cancel the order.
Monique displayed great empathy by giving me the money for my daughters lunch.
As I was walking away, Monique asked if the food was âfor the babiesâ? I said yes, and she GAVE ME THE MONEY TO PAY for the food, without any expectation of repayment.
I am not used to genuine kindness in this world. So I delivered the lunch to my daughter, retrieve my wallet from home, and return to repay my debt with interest.
As a FINANCIAL PLANNER, I am surprised she help me.
Krogers needs to promote Monique to a manager in training OR take a chance on another company hiring her.
Monique is the perfect example of GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Thank you Monique for making my...
