JJ Crab House — Restaurant in Pittsfield Charter Township

Front of house leaves a lot to be desired. I was told food would be ready in 30 minutes, I arrived 30 minutes later and ended up having to wait another 30 minutes. Despite this I could hear the woman at the register continue to tell those who came in and ordered over the phone that it would take 30 minutes. The woman in front of me in line waited nearly an hour for her food as well. The cashier was also rude, not greeting customers, ignoring them till she was ready to serve them. Then when she did it was poor service. One couple asked if the dishes came with any sides, the cashier said, "read the menu". Whenever delivery drivers or customers asked the woman handling the dispersal of orders where their food was (a lot of people were crowded inside waiting for their food) she would say, "15 more minutes", regardless of how much longer they'd actually been waiting.

The food was the saving grace from a one-star review for the service, probably a 3-4 star on its own. Nice, rich flavors. There aren't many places to get a seafood boil in the area so points for that. On the downsides: Crab was very overcooked and stuck to the shell, so you were fighting for every morsel. The shrimp were delicious (mostly due to the sauce), but also overcooked and unfortunately quite a few of them were not cleaned well. Potatoes and corn had turned to mush. Worrisome sign that all of our food had indications of being overcooked when the kitchen was so far behind on orders.

Overall it is hard to recommend a place with such poor management, I will still likely give them another try as there aren't many competing options and I would like to see if they make...

We were in the area to see a movie and needed someplace to have lunch beforehand. There are so many chains in the area and none of them sounded appetizing. Just as we were about to give in to some big box joint we drove past the ultimate strip mall and saw the menu for JJ Crab House in their window. The snow crab drew us in immediately.

The space is immaculately clean and there are a few tables that allow you to dine in. They also offer carry out but we chose to eat lunch there. We both ordered the crab and shrimp boil and I have a hard time describing just how delicious it was. If we had more time we'd have likely ordered a few more items. It's the kind of place where you should come and take your time working through a boil and some other menu items.

The staff (owners) are incredibly knowledgeable and kind. The service was top-notch and they were very helpful in giving us suggestions on how to best enjoy the dishes. Apart from the stellar seafood boil options they also offer a whole hibachi menu which sounded very tempting.

We left completely satisfied and we're already planning out next trip. If you're in the area, this is the place to be. Mouthwatering seafood boils in a friendly, clean establishment. Not much more you can ask for while dining out. Price point was very fair for the amount of food you receive. Can't wait to try all of the other items we missed out on yesterday...in the...
