I check out this store maybe 15 times a year or so for the past 4 years. Domingo, the owner is kind. I feel I always go in at the end of the day so the customer service isnât exquisite as in happy to see me or whatever, but it isnât necessary, when I ask questionâs Domingo is happy to answer and knowledgeable. His business survived the pandemic so credit is due where credit is due. I find some of the prices to be a bit much though the rarity and authenticity of the items are unmatched. The overpricing of some items is fair considering you know youâre getting an authentic item, so you are paying for a service as much as you are paying for a product. With manufacturing the way it is and brick and mortar stores going out of business itâs RARE you can find a place that has the niche nerd thing youâre looking for, without paying shipping or gambling that what you buy isnât a fake. There are many items for a ton of modern hobbies, or retro aesthetic; including old cameras , retro games, old comics, old music, and everything in-between. Domingo has rare appreciation for older media that many people can share...

We had a disappointing experience at the Trading Post in Placerville. My daughter went in to buy PokĂ©mon cards and ended up with Japanese-language packsânot what she wanted or expected. There was no clear signage or explanation that these packs were different, and the owner placed the blame on the kids for not noticing the foreign text. He also enforces a strict âno returnsâ policy, even in cases like this where there was clearly a lack of transparency.
It feels like the business model relies on taking advantage of young, inexperienced customers. Judging by the many similar reviews, this isnât a one-time issue. The store is often empty, and unfortunately, we now understand why. The lack of integrity shown here is a stain on Main Street and doesnât reflect the values of the Placerville community.
Please check the other honest reviews (the ones not written by the owner) before shoppingâif you look closely, youâll see the pattern. This store has a reputation...
Read moreThe wife and I were walking down Main street in Placerville, when we heard people arguing loudly. That is when we saw the owner of The Trading Post yelling at a couple that was trying to park in front of his store. Telling them to get out of there and then he started cussing at them when they rolled the window down to ask if that spot was available he became very rude and continued to yell profanities. The couple drove off and as we continued walking up the sidewalk he began putting up sandwich signs in a public parking spot; advertising his business. I for one will never be shopping at a business where the owner handles situations in this manner. So enter at your own risk; you might get your head bit off...
