Natures Art In Stone — Local services in Placerville

I've had awesome experiences here in the past and great conversations and good vibes from the gemcutter/ possibly the owner, but my boyfriend and I were in on Wednesday afternoon and had the worst experience ever.

We went in to look at some loose gemstones that I wanted to inlay in an art piece that I've been working on, so we headed straight to the back right where the loose stones are. I was taking some stones out of the containers and laying them on the table to discuss with my boyfriend which sizes and colors would work best for the project. I don't know if it was something about our appearance or what but the tall, thin blonde woman with that was working there was not very polite and was giving us strange looks and asked in a very sharp tone if " we were ok?"

I ignored her odd energy and kept shopping. A few moments later another customer she was clearly familiar with came in. She was very polite to him and in her conversation she shouted in an accusatory tone from another part of the store " have you seen the area over by the sign that says shoplifters will be prosecuted, that space has a lot of weird energy?" Obviously implying that we were shoplifting.

The customer agreed loudly, and then they walked back and past us while continuing their conversation. I felt too uncomfortable and embarrassed to continue shopping so I purchased a few of the gemstones I had been looking at and left. While the woman was ringing me up for my purchase I noticed that she was wearing a LOT of oversized gemstones. Maybe that was what was throwing her off?!

I understand that employees have to be aware of possible shoplifters and do their best to deter them but I've also worked in retail for several years and at the age of 16 I would have handled a potentially suspicious situation with more tact then this middle...

First off I want to state that I'm only giving this store a one-star rating because I had to to make this review. I sold some quarts crystals to the guy that runs this store I was planning on getting a couple of hundred bucks for my rocks knowing that they were worth way more. The guy told me could only sell the two bigger ones for a maximum of $20 but he would put a $25 price on them I asked him if he was joking and he said no honestly that's what they sell for. He said the smaller ones he would put on for $10 and the tiny ones he would sell for a quarter each. Later on that week I visited the store and found that the two big rocks were marked at $120 and the 5 smaller ones were marked a $60, 55, $40, $30 and 25 and a bunch of the smallest ones were marked from $1 all the way to $10. All of those prices are way higher than he said he could sell them for. When I confronted him and asked him why he lied to me he told me to get out of his store I said not until you tell me why he lied he picked up his phone to call the copsso I left. The moral of this review is to make everyone aware that this man is a liar and a crook you can an get at least 5 times the amount if you take your items to south lake Tahoe, folsom or Sacramento don't be a victim of this stores hiwag robbery and if anyone else has had this experience with eureka Jimmy mineral please post the review and I would take my one star rating from them back if I could but they can keep...

This place is freaking awesome! I flew in from tenessee a few days ago for a vacation, and I went to this shop with my uncle. We had a wonderful experience, the shop owners were super amazing, ever so sweet, knowledgeable, and caring, even giving me suggestions where to go rockhounding. I'm a studying geologist, and I can tell you this place is the place to be. Lots of amazing stones, amazing prices, and even more amazing people. Thank you all for giving me and my uncle an amazing experience, and I will be forever grateful for the recommendations and the amazing pieces I got. I've been looking for a high clarity piece of aquamarine for a while now, and the owner, who I found out owns a mine in Africa for aquamarine, gave me an amazing piece for a pretty amazing price.
