Editing based on their response. Clearly they could care less about the impact of their employees approach and simplified it to regulations. They also did not respond to an email I sent nor a comment on social media. Washing my hands of receiving any empathy from them, sadly
I was just discriminated against so terribly at this establishment. I signed up to be a vendor at a wellness event and explained my services to the event coordinators over the course of two phone calls and many emails/texts. Iām a licensed and professional manicurist and I was happy to volunteer my time to give back to women by offering what I call express 15 minute manicures. The event coordinators understood this and we all looked forward to the event. Not even 5 minutes into me setting up my table and area, two women, Michelle & Kim walked up to me (the only black woman in the corner) and told me I could not do nails at the establishment. Confused, I asked why as I was not met with any issues prior to the event. They went down a list of reasons, first starting that my electronic file āscared themā and that they do not allow āsmelly servicesā of any kind. I was baffled as I was only doing simple 15 minute express manicures, which quite literally entails filing and painting a personās nails as you would at home for fun. They never asked me any questions, they saw me, assumed what I was doing would be wrong and immediately made me uncomfortable. After explaining what I was doing, the woman offered to get a cloth to put under my table so that I would not spill anything. I am a licensed professional and I would not and have not ever caused a mess at my studio, the salon I work from or any event. Iām typically welcomed with open arms as women who usually are unable to have a pampering session are happy to see that they can get a quick service at an event geared towards wellness and self-care. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and the words āyou canāt do that hereā continued to ring in my head so I decided to leave. I explained to the staff that Iād be leaving and did not want to be a liability nor did I want to be somewhere under the eyes of a woman who would approach me with such judgement and no tact. As I was leaving, these women all of a sudden changed their tune and one of them apologized, stating that her colleague had a "bad back" and was not well. We all have a lot going on in our personal lives, that is never an excuse for rudeness, lack of empathy and in my eyes, discrimination. I drove from Fort Worth to Plano to do the event and left after hardly even setting up with tears in my eyes. I have vended at many events and have never been treated this way. The woman constantly said what I canāt do, but never asked what I WAS doing. I should have never been approached, they have a contract with the event coordinators and shouldāve discussed with them first, not myself. The list of reasons kept changing as to why I was not welcomed there and I deduced it to it simply being that they were uncomfortable with ME. I highly recommended looking elsewhere for your business needs as professionalism here is...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe found Caddo Mapleshade (Plano) in February. From the moment Laycee G answered our call (most of the others places we called we got voicemail or "someone would call back") and then we walked in and were greeted by Laycee we were sold. The building, facilities and amities are exactly what we want/need. Laycee, the office manager is always there to greet you and any visitors. Moreover, she does a great job at facilitating relationships and networking with other business and individuals in the office. I would look nowhere else if the Caddo Mapleshade location works for you and your business. Excellent office manager, great atmosphere and everything you need to be effective working. We are truly thankful we found Caddo.
