I had spinal surgery on May 23rd and the only reason that I'm giving a 2 star to this location) nothing to do with the excellent surgeons/PAs and anyone else in the surgery room) is because of 1 nurse that ruined my trust unfortunately for the rest of the nurses... I know that I probably shouldn't but I could have put a 1 star but that's not fair... so the one nurse that I'm referring to her name is Louella... I was told that she came in that day from an agency and the sad thing is that when I mentioned her name they said oh we know who your talking about... she had me literally crying every time I needed help to the restroom because of her treatment towards me... she got extremely mad at me because I first had to go and second because I took too long (I have bladder issues) and she said that if I know that I should demand to get my catheter back... she huffed when I said that it's pretty much hospital protocol to remove the catheter but she didn't care...then she literally grabbed me by the arm and rushed me to the restroom and didn't let me put my brace on... she rudely said to call her when I finally got through... the second time I had to go I was already starting to cry in fear that she would appear and as soon as she did she already has a frown especially when she saw that I was sobbing uncontrollably she just said that she didn't see why I was crying and that I was just making things worse I told her that it was because of her and she just shook her head... I held it for as long as possible and I was afraid to ask for something to eat like a small snack because of the medicine or ice anything... but to make it worse was during shift change... earlier I told her that something was wrong with the IV that was at my right wrist (I came to the floor with 4 IVs because they kept blowing) it was puffy under the tape and it hurt when they flushed it...ahw just shook her head and said that it was fine and left... sometime during my sleep it fell out and she was upset but Louella has the audacity to tell the next nurse that I deliberately pulled it out probably for attention and when I stood up for myself I said that was so not true and that was a total lie she just ignored me and started walking out the door and started with the next patient. Despite her the other staff was great...the coffee was surprisingly amazing and one of the nurses brought me some with the exact amount of cream and sugar... can't say much about the food since the first couple of days it was clear liquids but the chicken broth soup was great... I would have loved a bacon cheeseburger and fries LoL... other than that everything else was Awesome but I want someone with higher authority to send me a message to the agency she works at so I can talk to them directly about what happened I don't want this to be swept under the rug and giving her the chance to treat other patients the way she treated me... I'm not someone who gives bad reviews just because I can but because I'll stay worried about id she's treating others the same way and I don't take action and let this incident be known... thanks and again someone please contact me as soon as you can with the information about who...
Read moreI had a two level fusion (ALIF) L4/L5 & L5/S1 done at this location. This is a very small hospital. I believe 7 rooms. I was told there is a 2/1 nurse patient ratio. I was the only surgery scheduled for the entire day of my procedure. For my procedure it was expected to be 2 nights at the hospital.
Everything was spectacular from the pre-op appointment, checking in day of procedure, right before the procedure, a few hours after my procedure. The first nurse I had named Jane was fantastic. The night staff/nurse and next day staff were not good at all. The nurse never threw away my food trays for 24 hrs. My room smelled of cold chicken from lunch (that I was never told had been delivered until 2 hrs later) and bacon from that mornings breakfast.
COVID prevented any family to be in the room/building so I was completely at the mercy of the staff. If my wife would have been there she would have thrown away the old food, gotten me extra pillows, helped me be comfortable etc...
The nurse only came in to check vitals. Took zero "ownership" in my care.
IMO Good nurses have an instinct and will just do something if they think it may help the patient ie..grab a few extra pillows since I'm 6'5 and don't fit well in a hospital bed.
I ended up disconnecting everything and calling my wife to come get me early. Staying at Legent Medical Center was the most isolated, alone, helpless feeling I've ever experienced from any healthcare facility. I expected much more from a place that is so small and specialized. I don't complain alot either like alot of people that leave awful reviews on places bc they think they are special. Look at my history doing reviews in Google. I always look at the positives first. I'd like to think I'm an easy patient but I was treated for the most part like an inconvenience at this hospital.
Basically I don’t feel like this place treats patients any different than a regular hospital...kind of more like a regular hospital that is not that great....
Read moreHi, my name is Tanzania Wallace, and I was a patient here on April 13th thru April 14th. From the time I walked in the door and was greeted by Alliyah I felt at ease because of her kindness with helping me finish my paperwork. Miss Nancy then came to get me ready for my procedure. I so appreciate how she was so kind to explain everything that she would need to do to get me prepared. I also greatly appreciate her praying with me before they took me back for my procedure. Once I got to my room I was greeted by Wonderful nurse Grace who took such good care of me during the day. I so appreciate her making sure that my husband and I were comfortable and had everything we needed. Amber was such a joy and so kind also asking if we needed anything and making sure that we had food. In the evening Awesome nurse Shamica was such a sweetheart and I really enjoyed our Mommy-to-Mommy conversations. She came in and made sure that I had everything I needed overnight. I greatly appreciate her noticing that my husband wasn't sleeping right in the chair, so she went to get assistance from Superhero nurse Dani who came and saved the day when we couldn't figure out how to make the chair turn into a bed for my husband to sleep comfortably next to my bed. More importantly a special Thank You to Dr. Hothem for being the best surgeon in the whole wide world anyone could ever have to make them feel better and have no more pain. Overall, I had an Awesome experience in Legent Hospital for Special Surgery, and I would definitely recommend anyone to receive care at this facility. Thank You to All the other staff like John and KiKi the two Great physical therapist who came to work with me and teach me the things I need to do at home to help with my recovery. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to each and every one of you for everything you did to make me feel special and know that I was in good hands. I Pray that GOD will continue to Bless you Always...
