Look, I can handle rate increases. If you want to bump my fee 5-10% every now and then, I get that. But to raise my rate within months of moving in, by a whopping 50% — that’s just predatory.
The space is clean, the manager is nice, but I can’t recommend anyone move into a storage unit with such wild rate changes. I’ll be getting my stuff out as soon as I can.

Please don’t suggest I got a “discounted” or “new member” or “introductory” rate. I double checked and there was nothing in my paperwork that even hinted that my rate was a limited-time special. Please don’t tell me rate increases are needed to maintain your high standards. Of course they are. But a 50% overnight increase — we all know it's just someone at corporate who crunched the numbers and figured out the maximum you could get away with while still hitting minimum occupancy targets. That's it. Nothing more and nothing less. I bet they'll get a nice year end bonus for that one. Finally, please take a moment to put yourself in my shoes. Consider the 20+ hours I’ve spent hauling loads over and carefully organizing everything, only to be stuck with a unit that no longer fits in my business budget, and forced to do it all over again.
If you really care, maybe send a moving truck and a couple people to help get my stuff out. Or sending another card in the mail telling me you've changed your mind about the rate increase is...
Read moreWe’ve used this facility for the last few months. The place seems well kept, however there is a mice problem. A while back we ran into people moving out of the unit next to us. They complained about having Mice in their unit. We didn’t think much of it because we were not seeing any in our unit, but also it seemed like they had a bunch of junk. Fast forward a few weeks later we starting noticing a lot of mouse droppings in ours too. We did contact staff and they offered to put mice traps in our unit, we did appreciated that. Staffing was responsive and for this reason I’m am leaving a 3 star review and not a 1 star. We have recently moved out because, A, the of mice issue, and B, they bumped our rent by more than $100 from one month to the other. This is particularly frustrating knowing they are offering new customers $100 off their first month. I did chat with a rep on the phone and they were willing to negotiate a lower price. However, if your account is set to auto pay, it’s quite easy to not notice the price change until after it’s been pulled from your account. They DO NOT send an email or notification to your online account about this change either. They say they send a letter through the mail but I never saw that. We decided to stop using them after seeing how big of a jump the increase was. We thought it would was likely that they would increase it again in few months. Read moreExtra space storage is clean, well protected, and convenient. They seem to have made every effort to make the process easy. The one thing that annoyed me is that they require a few things that I did not find mentioned on the website that feel like they are attempting to nickel and dime you and not mention the cost up front. The first is that you are required to insure your items at a minimum cost of $10 a month. This significantly impacts the price of a smaller unit... that's as much as a third of the cost! And I'd really prefer to just let my old teddy bears and random pieces of furniture burn in a fire than give you $10 more a month. The second is that you are required to provide your own lock. It's a storage facility that doesn't have its own locks. Huh. Otherwise, it's a really nice place.
Edit: After having not provided locks, they bothered the hell out of me about getting my own repeatedly over the next few days. It was a VERY busy time. It was going to be a few days. Anyway, after two days they called me that day at 4:30 and threatened to lock me out of my own unit if I didn't get a lock on by 6.
