U.G.L.Y.'s Closet — Local services in Pleasant Grove

I wouldn't dare give ugly's closet less than five stars because I enjoy what they're doing for the community especially for single woman as I was one struggling to make ends meet for a few years there. I do have to say though back in October I believe last year my daughter and I made a really large purchase and I was really nervous when the owner had someone else take care of the purchase. I had a lot of things that needed to be counted. according to my calculations my total came out to $38 as I always add things up when I'm in a store well she told me I owed them $58 by lady they called Mama and I didn't want to argue with her or bring Naomi into it as I could tell she was really struggling with adding everything up plus I know it was going to a good cause. Still it makes me nervous every time I make a transaction with somebody new. I guess that's why I've stopped buying a lot of the items that have sticker prices on them and stick to a small crate. I feel like I would spend a lot more money at uglys closet if I knew that I could trust the person behind the counter at counting up my items correctly. I went in today and my transaction was easy I just had a small crate and then a $5 item. I was thrilled back in November when I saw an old friend Heather manning the register so I wasn't scared to buy all the price tagged items as I knew she'd count them up properly. I did tell her about my experience she asked me why I didn't come back and say anything I said it's because I felt like it was going to a good cause but still during that time when I made that purchase in October I was actually struggling and had to transfer money from my savings to cover the purchase so I could have enough in my checking account to pay my bills. I still continue to support uglys closet maybe only once a month vs twice a week as I was at one point. It seems like the workers as they do rotate have become a lot more knowledgeable or comfortable with transactions. They're growing so fast and packed to the brim literally with merchandise. I hope to see them someday move into a bigger space close to that same location off Center and Main in Pleasant Grove. I love coming to this cute gem! They have been in this location for 3 years now and I love their mission statement: To support single mothers! Jazmine, the owner, is very friendly and welcomes each and every customer herself when she’s in the store working, and she’s there often! She’s very passionate about what she does! Renato, her colleague, is super personable and just makes you feel like you have a friend there. I have found treasures there often, such as: brand name glass mixing bowls, baking pans, African wood bowls for home decor, children’s clothes, and a handful of toys. I’ve also found a set of really great chairs, which I purchased and donated to the front reception office of a school - they LOVED it! This cute store gets daily donations from near and far, so I like to stop by at least once a week. Their items are fairly priced and their proceeds go back into supporting the single mothers of Utah! Everything there is meh. It's sort of whatever gets donated and there's not really regulations in quality. Everything's SUPER cheap there tho. Their jewelery isn't that great at all, but the guy running it is chill and you can also donate there if you need a place. They have toys, clothes, and electronics, but personally I didn't find anything too cool besides this one Rock I bought off of him for 5 bucks. Naturally occurring little Arch I think would be cool in a terrarium for insects or arachnids. He gave me the little bag for free to keep it safe. Also there's no tax at the store for sale. So paying in cash is super simple and painless. Guy was great, but it's a tight squeeze getting around the shop, except for the stuff being sold outside and the quality of the products is obviously lacking. Though you could find treasures there.
